lightIRC Flash webchat releases 0.9.8

The lightIRC project just released version 0.9.8 of their free Flash webchat which contains a bunch of bugfixes and feature additions.

The biggest improvement probably is that the client now offers “basic SSL support” which is still marked being beta at this point.

A whole host of new parameters for better customization has been added – you now can predefine the ident, realname and quitmessage the client uses. Also a new translation has been added, lightIRC now speaks Polish ;)

InspIRCd stable 1.2.3 released

The InspIRCd stable tree has a new release and is now available as version 1.2.3.

The new version is mostly a bugfix release and developer danieldg cites “clone counting on CGI:IRC” as the “biggest fix this time, along with a bug letting users change to Q:lined nicks on their local server”.

Another bugfix worth mentioning is the fix for a memory leak in SetSockAddr that could be triggered by CGI:IRC clients – but there also have been feature additions, for example support for accountname-based InvEx extended bans (+I R:accountname)

ratbox-services version 1.2.2 released

ratbox-services, a services package for use with IRCd-ratbox is now available as version 1.2.2 in their stable tree.

They are “highly configurable, with nearly all options being set in a config that can be rehashed rather than set at compile time. It also uses the SQLite database backend, which works as a database interface to a normal file, meaning no seperate database software must be running”.

The new version, aside from various bugfixes, also contains a fix for a potential user-triggerable crashbug.

LimeChat for the Mac releases version 1.5

The LimeChat project, an “IRC client for Mac OS X written on RubyCocoa”, has released version 1.5 of their free open-source IRC client.

The changelog is pretty short, citing the addition of an auto-rejoin option as the only change from the previous 1.4 release.

Smuxi bugfix release 0.7.1 available

3 weeks after the last release, Smuxi developer meebey presents a new release of his IRC client, covering a few important issues.

In his announcement, he lists the most notable ones being “important crash fixes, seen and unseen highlights are now remembered when reconnecting to the smuxi-server, improved error tolerance for temporary Twitter issues, fixed /join command and adaptive excess flood handling”.

Another highlight is the new, though only partial, translation to Catalan by Siegfried-Angel Gevatter Pujals.
