A new leak from well-known user Chi11edog on X has revealed the possible specifications of AMD’s next desktop processors. The information points to a renewal of the Ryzen 9000 family, with a star model that would stand out for an amount of cache memory never seen in a consumer processor: the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.
According to the leaked data, this processor would have 16 cores and 32 threads, but its most impressive feature would be its 192 MB L3 cache. This amount of ultra-fast memory is especially necessary for gaming, where it can increase performance dramatically. The chip would operate with a base frequency of 4.3 GHz and a turbo of 5.6 GHz, with a TDP that would rise to 200W.
A new Ryzen 7 also on the way
The leak does not stop there, as it also mentions a second model focused on the high-end: the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. This processor would be equipped with 8 cores and 16 threads, accompanied by a more than interesting 96 MB of L3 cache. Its frequencies would be 4.7 GHz base and 5.6 GHz in turbo mode, maintaining a more contained TDP of 120W, which would make it a powerful option for gaming.
These processors would be part of an update to the current Zen 5 architecture, known as Granite Ridge Refresh, and would be compatible with the existing AM5 platform. For the moment, all this information should be taken with a grain of salt, since it comes from an unofficial source. Even so, it is not the first time that this leaker has provided accurate data about AMD CPUs.
