[img=left:b3e3dbeda0]http://www.irc-junkie.org/gfx/highuptime_competition.gif[/img:b3e3dbeda0] Time to vote for a winner! You have until the coming weekend to vote for your favorite /quit line. The person with the most votes after the weekend will win the 2 year IRCd shell which is made available by Highuptime.com.
Enter the comments to view the entries to vote for.
Excuses for the delay for getting the vote up :) You know how those things go ;)

Your current leader with "My quit message is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life". Should be disqualified from your competition because it a rip from the United States Marine Corps (USMC) "The Rifle Creed". The Rifle Creed is by Major General William H. Rupertus (USMC, Ret.) and was written following the attack on Pearl Harbor(1941). The only difference between the creed and the quit message is the word "rifle" was replaced with the words "quit message".
Your explained rules specificlly states that the /quit message cannot be ripped off another Person. Major General William H. Rupertus (USMC, Ret.) is most certainly a person.
The Rifle Creed can be found at: http://www.uspharmd.com/usmc/mcrifle.htm

It is a play on words and was taken from the film Full Metal Jacket. This information was included when the quit message was submitted.

A note on the first submission:
| Quote: |
| "A Jedi must remain focused. Mastery of the Force requires that all unnecessary activities be purged from daily life. Mastery of the Force is all-consuming, but theres no such thing as a part-time Jedi." |
Perhaps instead of arguing further we should allow Asmo and High Uptime to make a decision on this.
Again, the first quit message in question was submitted with a note about it being from the film Full Metal Jacket.
Thank you for your patience.

mite, exactly who was arguing? I didn't see any arguing. There is a huge difference between informing the judges of a possible rules violation, sharing ones opinion and arguing.
Secondly, this thread and or topic is not preventing Asmo from doing anything. I replied only to inform the judges that the /quit was ripped and unoriginal, which IMO *would* affect the outcome if the judges agree with my opinion. Our continued conversation is called "feedback". Feedback can be useful to judges in helping them reach a verdict by collecting others opinions. Your post left a nasty "shut up so we can vote" impression on me, as if your involved with the winner some how.
If it's kept, so be it. It doesn't really matter as far as I'm concerned, I'm not interested in the contest nor the prize or I would have submitted a few dozen /quits myself. So it's not like I'm in second place trying to weasel a win.
Seems the only person in this thread that needs some patience is you.

Dude, that second post was uncalled for. You said next to nothing besides negative comments directed towards myself.
A post as bold as your original one can curve a vote and belongs in private to those who run a contest such as this. I mean, you could have been wrong. You never know.
I'm giving this thread a rest for the evening so that Asmo can wake up and make a post before things get too deep.
Later guys.

Now that you brought it up, you shouldn't be allowed to participate because you are affiliated with IRC-Junkie .. that has "the contest was rigged" written all over it. That's also illegal in many countries. You may not be employed by irc-junkie but that makes no difference. You're a moderator of this forum which gives you a unique and bias relationship with the judges, that is already enough to call the contest unfair. Regardless of if Asmo actually treats your entry like all the others. So tell me again which of us has done something "uncalled for".

My post wasn't bold, I stated facts and expressed my opinion based on the rules as I read them. I don't care if I'm right or wrong. I simply informed everyone about the possibility of a rules violation. I left it up to the judges to either agree or not. I didn't pressure anyone into doing anything. I just called it as I seen it. Don't like it? .. get over it!

You can give the thread up for the rest of your life, it won't change anything. I'm dissapointed at the entire IRC-junkie and HighUpTime staff now as it is for even considering your entry.
There's nothing deep about it .. you shouldn't be eligible .. period!
Calling me names in private isn't going to win you any browny points, in fact ... nothing will .. You're just upset. Maybe someday you'll realize that I call things as I see them, often in a blunt, straight to the point way. Don't like it? .. get over it!

Oh my goodness.. Unoriginal or not, i think they are all decent entries. This could have been more fun if there wasn't a fuss. Wished mine made it though. Good luck to all.

Aw dude c'mon you dont mean all this for real do you? :\
We got about 30 entries, and the quality sucked if I may be honoust, thats why it was a hard time to even chose 5 instead of the original planned 10.
I can assure you mite havent been included ebcuase he is a moderator or a regular in #www.irc-junkie.org
Aside of that, in the end its YOU all that decide who is the winner, not the 'judges'.
And if you decide to be dissapointed because of this in IRC-Junkie, then so be it. I cant really care for that if I may be honoust. Anyway, I guess you wont even be reading this anymore then, since I'm sure you will follow up on your own words and stop visitting this website out of your 'dissapointment' over IRC-Junkie, but hat would at least be a good things and keep the fun in it for those who ARE still having fun in this contest where you are trying to put on a bad fingerprint.
OK, after this all is said I bet this will roll into a flame (I couldnt care less).
Sigh. Next time I'll reconsider offers like HighUptime.com made out of their own free will a couple of times before making another contest.

FYI, mite just asked me to pull his moderator rights which I have done so. Hope that made at least 1 person happy with himself.

I've decided that this is the best course of action for the contest.
Some people overreact about moderator privileges. I think I've used them twice in about 6 months and I'm sure it's still possible to contribute to a community whether or not you hold a title there.
Everyone in this thread has had a positive attitude except for one person.

I hope this negative trend will now stop here. This website is entirely held up (almost completely by one person) by volunteers and some of the wording used here is totally out of line.
Please respect that this small shellprovider company is offering a prize which is worth around 330$, at least have the decency to give them credit for that, instead of just putting them into a negative light.
I will really think hard next time to put up another contest like this. The IRC 'community' never ceases to amaze me at times.
