I do realize this is a blatant attempt to spam a new project of mine, but it is however relevant to the topic of IRC, as I will explain below.
As an oper on a fairly sized IRC network I get engaged a lot with machines which have been compromised through bad security uses of the owners of those machines. It should come of no surprise to you, as regular IRCer and visitor of this site, that safe computing is something that is simply not part of all day computing by the vast majority of computer and Internet users. One of those practices is the installation of whatever 'free' software they can find online.
UsefulFreeSoftware is a website that promotes open source software for the Windows platform. Software which has proved itself over time as a reliable, save and easy to use software. No hidden adware, or even worse, viruses or spyware hidden in what is presented as 'free' software.
Sure, I realize there are sites like SourceForge, but would I sent my mommy or friends there who are not so computer saffy as me? Hell no :) I think they would click away the site right after seeing the homepage. The interface is simply too complicated for them.
UsefulFreeSoftware is about presenting software in an easy to access website for the ordinary computer and Internet user. Instead of trying to link to as many projects I can find, I try to pick out only those projects that are in my mind easy to use and have proofed themselves to a broad audience already.
I hope you are able to support this project by linking to the website on your website, or suggesting the website to your friends and family. If you want to use a banner, I have a button and a banner graphic available here. For comments and suggestions do not hesitate to contact me.

Do you wish to only add "Open Source" software as UseFul software, or would you consider FreeWare, which is free of all above stated, as well?

Freeware *should* be free of such things, but unfortunally, it isnt always. So I stick to what I described above, becuase that is the best way to be asured you are save.

Thats a shame, your going to miss out on a lot of good software. Oh well, it is your own choice, good luck with the site.

I like the layout, but the guy in the top left looks like a bit shady to me..
While I can understand the need for ads, do you think they may become confusing given their posistion? Whats the bet some of those ad links will install crud?

Google Adwords program is pretty strict and their policies dont allow ilegal content.
But when I notice stuff gets put there that shouldnt be, I will take action and filter it out per usual tools available to me in Google Adsense's interface.
