After more then 1,5 years a new update of mIRC has been released. Version 6.17 consists mostly of bugfixes and solves a few security issues that have risen over the past period.
The $decode identifier is by default disabled from any window inputbox. This (and other identifiers) has been abused a lot by tricking people to copy/paste lines of mIRC code. The lines of code contained lines that compromised the victims computer which were hidden in encoded strings of characters.
Other major changes include the possibility for mIRC to ping the server when it has not heard form a server in a while to check the validity of a connection, added initiating passive DCC send/chat connections, changing fonts will affect all windows of the same type immediately, improvements in the SSL support and support for UTF-8.
