Some information about the website you might find interesting...
What is IRCJunkie?
IRCJunkie is a organization setup and maintained by enthusiastic IRC users for IRC users. Our goal is to provide independent news that is interesting in the point of view of an IRC user, as well as providing articles and tutorials that serve as a source of information concerning technical, security as well as amusing aspects of using IRC. The main goal is to stay away from becoming "another (m)IRC script deposit". We are very proud to say that 80 to 90% of our visitors visit the site coming from bookmarks, where other IRC related websites rely on "surfers".
Who are the IRCJunks?
Asmo originally registered the domain to use as a vHost. Soon after that he started a simple webpage simply because the shellprovider gave him the means to do so. Not long after the start the website visitor count became much higher then expected, and the website got a higher priority over the vHost. If something does not have a name on it, it is from the hand of Asmo.
Yeager was the second person to regularly start contributing to IRCJunkie. Yeager leads the "Yeager Investigates" interview series on the website, where he always seems to go right to the point that matters. His interviews go from a entertaining read about a #cybersex op, to the ins and outs of being a IRC Operator.
Eric^^ Wrote the quote submit/rating system for the site (now sadly had to remove due to abuse some several users). Without him I would need to sort out all quotes send in manually! He also the scripter of eIRC, a full mIRC script.
Tulio is the writer of the "Tulio investigates IRC Networks", where he takes a look to less known IRC networks, and what their possibilities are for you to take a look, how they work, and where to get to in case of problems.
Fubik, writes our introductionary tutorial series for mIRC scripting. No single client is your perfect IRC client right out of the box. Fubik introduces you into the basics of scripting in the most popular IRC client in use today, mIRC. He is also opering on the Astrolink network.
Skie, ronner and tojoe, who together pulled of the excellent IRC search engine, while being confronted with a ever lasting impatient Asmo. (Search engine is unfortunally no longer available)
You! Last but not least, everyone who visits this website. Without your support it would not be worthwhile to spend the amount of time into articles we do now. And not to forget the funny logfiles you sent in to us. Keep them coming!
news reporters
Ofcourse we need our reporters around the world who keep an eye out for stuff that matters to you. A new interesting IRC client? A new server on your network? They are here to get to the point, and then delivering that point to you.
Besides getting general interesting news, they have the next "specialties";
Fadeaway, users of the Undernet community, and previously correspondent on the now inactive IRCNews.com.
cArLiLLoS, member of Undernet's user-com, and also reporting on scripts and addons.
Goodie, specialising in bots, he keeps us updated on what new tcl to get, and what new versions are out of your favourite bot.
Hardy, is one of the admin of EFnet`s offical website www.efnet.org, aswell as operator on several servers there. He admins servers on GalaxyNet, criten.net, astrolink and hybnet.
Asmo, general IRC related news.
