Efnet is known for its high rate of servers linking and delinking. If you want to check fast what servers are up, and if they are full or not, they have a special server page for that purpose up now.

We have no confirmation whatsoever if this is true or not, just saw this screenshot, and some m$ bashing is never bad

(As some people have pointed out to me, it apparently IS a fake. Not to mention that m$ would break a lot of privacy laws in case it really was doing this.)

New aIRC version out

For everyone who uses the script aIRC: Tabo released a new version today with new and fixed functions. One amazing new feature is the possibility to read your mind, and then translate it to text. As seen in practise I was utterly amazed by its usefullness!

Further improvements have been added like support for =nick in the Undernet addon, wich is a feature in the services that replace the nick of the person in question with his username, provided he has been logged in. For the rest there are a lot of improvements in the sound section.

Proxyscanner effective on Undernet

Some users might have noticed it in their firewall logfiles. Undernet has taken in use a open proxy scanner. Hopefully it will help in the battle against floodbots and other nasty things that eat up user connection space. For more information check the proxyscan page out on Undernet.org.

Security Hole in MS Passport Wallet --- Nov 3, 2001 12:26:14


The MS Wallet a sign-on service used by 200 million people was disable last Friday. Serious Bugs was found by Marc Slemko a founding member of the Apache Software Foundation.

mIRC raises US$ 27,360.00 for the Red Cross --- 03/11/2001



As you might know, mIRC's coder Khaled Mardam-Bey decided to donate all of October's income of selling mIRC to the Red Cross. It turned out to be a great succes, from their website:

"The October appeal is over and has been a great success! Thanks to all of the mIRC users who registered their copies of mIRC during the month of October to support our Afghan Refugee appeal. 1368 mIRC users registered their copies of mIRC, raising a total of US$ 27,360.00! These monies will be donated to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to help with refugee issues in and around Afghanistan."

New bash scripting tutorial --- 24/10/2001



You have a eggdrop, which is in several channels you never frequently visit. Several master add users who use your bot, and after a while you can easily loose track of everything thats happening on your bot. Not anymore! In this new bash scripting tutorial we are going to learn you how to use the *nix program grep to make daily reports of commands send to your bot, private messages, ctcp's, and whatever else you want to know about your users and your bot.

Bahamut 1.4.30 Released --- 23/10/2001



For all those running the Dalnet ircd server software: version 1.4.30 is released last sunday. From the Bahamut website: "Bahamut-1.4.30 is now available on ftp.dal.net. Major changes: * DCCALLOW now blocks .zip files * cmode +M prevents non-identified nicknames from speaking in a channel * umode +R and cmode +R are now working properly."
