How to Share Files Through IRC

That link should be removed unless you like helping people download illegal files, more so mp3's because that's what the article uses to explain how to DCC.

Although I sort of agree, remember...

That is like saying, we should take away all gun training, because by showing them how to shoot a gun, we are directly affecting the deaths of many people.

[To clarify] Explaining how to file share on IRC is NOT teaching them how to file share. It is simply showing them another "feature" of IRC. Now sadly, many file sharers will use this site for "wrong" purposes, but just because one person takes a tutorial, and does something bad with it, doesn't mean that the whole tutorial is bad and shouldn't be used.

No it's not like that. Teaching people to use guns specifically to kill people (i.e. terrorist training) would be like doing that, but teaching people to use guns is not like teaching them to kill people.
In the same way, teaching people to use IRC is not teaching them to file trade - but that article only teaches them about file trading, not about using IRC as we know it.

I looked briefly for someone to whine to at About.com, but didn't see a contact link. Sure won't get another hit from me.

I agress with ed.

I don't really see why it shouldnt be there. You can trade files on irc but irc isnt meant for it. But that doesnt mean writing an article about it is wrong in any way. And just because downloading mp3's in one country is illegal doesnt mean it is illegal everywhere.

It's an article about irc, which makes it fit in the sidebar, as the purpose of the sidebar was to have news that mention irc. If you start to censur this site, so it only will have certian stuff in the irc news sidebar, would just make this site worse.
