This post of mine has been duplicated from searchirc, basically, to gather even more ideas for features people want to see in irc server software. THe more ideas i can put in the better:

For the past few years ive been coding an ircd. Its a 100% modular ircd, with a vast number of features as modules. The thing is, im starting to run out of ideas. I've implemented just about everything there is to be found in a modern ircd, and then some (e.g. mesh linking, opers with ACL's, etc...) so, i'm turning to you people, possibly the biggest irc community out there, to feed me some ideas!

Ideas which have been implemented due to previous discussion: m_park (user parking and unparking), m_filter_pcre (regexp spamfilters), m_nicklock (nickname locking module), suggestions for an sql module, m_operlevels, an "empty mode" which prevents connections to a server while it is undergoing maintanance...
so to sum things up post your ircd ideas here! it doesnt matter if any previous ircd coder has told you its impossible with their own api, i will consider it

Does it support IMIRC (AimServ)? http://www.zevils.com/programs/imirc/
If not, theres a suggestion.

no and it probably never will for three reasons:
(1) aimserv is unstable and cant even connect half the time in my experience
(2) aimserv only works on unreal (last time i checked) and nothing else
(3) its not modular, i'd have to modify it and send a patch to its creator.
if 2 and/or 3 have changed, its become possible.

Since the vast majority of chatters/IMers/AOLers use a PC of some kind or another I'm prone to say use a multi-IM and IRC client such as Trillian or Gaim if you must chat cross protocol. As for the non-PC based users, even though they exist, they're still not a significant amount of them to have a huge demand of support.
