Recently you reported that the Anope project was suffering from heavy DDoS and when you take a look at the Anope website you can see for yourself. For the newcomers; some time ago someone entered their IRC channel, decided that he shouldn't have to wait for someone to help him out and so started DDoSing the Anope server(s). Gives you to think about the mental state of some people, but thats besides the point.
Now it seems that the problem is growing worse. As seen on the Anope website they got some forum space on the SearchIRC website but when you try to reach them then you'll notice that they too seem to be having problems since the entire domain can't be resolved.
When doing a little research you'll soon notice that this is caused by the fact that both SearchIRC DNS servers cannot be reached. Now the only question remains: more DDoS or just a simple error somewhere. I fear for the worst

People should think about what they are causing with DDoS. Its something so disproportional and is grabbed to so easily.
C'mon guys, killing sites like this in this way is simply not worth it.

SearchIRC being down was definately not a DDoS problem, it was a "Power" problem, all power to the servers was lost, as is mentioned here

Hello,
I can confirm that SearchIRC WAS NOT down due to any attack. There was a power failure in the area where we host the main servers. We had planned to re launch the site on another sevrer, but by that time the power was back up and there was no need.
Thanks

People always assume the worst right away ;) Good to hear all is solved now. SearchIRC provides a great service to the community, good to see its back.

Absolutely true. Sometimes maybe too quick but....

Yeah!
I'm really glad that it is indeed not related to DoS at all, it would probably be a major blow towards the Anope's team spirit Hmm, perhaps not properly described but I know I'd sure feel bad if a website with the fame of SearchIRC would be targeted by DoS, where chances were high that it is caused by people who are after me :/

Good to see it is back up. Don't dig the forums over there but the search features are nice.
People should just switch their DNS to localhost when they are being attacked. This would save money and most everyone knows when something resolves to localhost that means they are trying to avoid an attack.
