New release of Dialog Studio
Sunday, February 17 2002 by Asmo
Every mIRC scripter loves this program, Dialog Studio from dohcan. It helps you create dialog windows for your scripts within a easy to use GUI.
Initially version 1 beta 8 added support for mIRC 6.0 features, but had a bug that made a 1 beta 8a release necessary.
According to its programmer dohcan, this will be its last beta release before the final version 1.0.

On 14th February, Jesse McGrew released the first ViRC release candidate, RC1. The new version has various enhancements and new features (eg perform on connect, new default colours and event bitmaps, default event sounds, colour schemes etc).
Ironically, ViRC has supported the recently-criticised irc:// URL association, and it now has an installer. The author is now working on documentation and bug fixes as they come along before he releases 2.0 final.
ViRC is a multiserver IRC client with active scripting support. Get it from the ViRC 2.0 prerelease center.
WindowsXP completely cracked
Saturday, February 16 2002 by Asmo
It was just a matter of waiting, but also M$'s latest flagship, WindowsXP is cracked now. And not just once, but twice.
The first crack is a installer from the "Sad Team". After rebooting into save mode and executing the patch, you will have a "full registered version".
The second crack is even better. A keygenerator which will take a night on a Athlon 1400 to generate a key. Apparently they did a very well job, since it seems you can even use the generated key to activate WindowsXP with M$ (imagine buying it legally and that someone else generated your key with the keygen...).

Another Undernet server lost
Wednesday, February 13 2002 by Asmo
The reason for the delink of NewYork* is that it has been down 4 weeks, and nebrix fail to answer the admins emails or phonecalls. Sad to see another server go. NewYork* didn't delink because of DoS, and thats is kinda new. I personally think that Too many hotdogs were consumed the last two months.

mIRC 6.0 Out..
Tuesday, February 5 2002 by Asmo
yup, it's so true, mIRC 6.0 has been released.
This version of course comes with the long expected Multi server
a total of 189 Additions, Fixes, see the list here.
One of the fixes is a major security issue that was found in mIRC recently. A buffer overflow in mIRC can allow others execute arbitrary code on the victim's computer. This exploit is found in mIRC 5.9, 5.91 and all other old versions tested. The patch that the Peace and Protection script recently released was to fix this problem. It is highly advised you upgrade to mIRC 6.0 as soon as possible.

Kiddies DoS irc-server off undernet
Sunday, February 3 2002 by Asmo
Undernet's largest server, paris.fr.eu.undernet.org, with an average userbase of around 12000 clients, has officially been delinked by it's administration, because of the heavy DoS attacks on it. The DoS attacks originated from only several so called "Kiddies", who don't like IRC, but still get on it. The router of paris.* had such a high load, because of all the DoS attacks, even the customers were starting to get concerned about it. For that reason, the administration decided to shut down the server.
