Seems lots of networks have issues with bellsouth.

I thought i remembered ETG having issues and blocked a hunk of south Florida because of some annoying user.

It seems that irc networks of late seem to be resorting to banning entire ISP netblocks because of inactivity of the abuse dept's for those ISPs...

i just wonder what the network in question expects from their behaviour...

will the world stop turning?

no

will anyone besides the users on said network care?

no

will this ban do anything to the ISP or change their mind to do $ACTION?

no

*if* they would be some sort of data-carrier and they'd start dropping said ISPs traffic - that would yield quick results, but not banning $IP_RANGE from $RANDOM_NET...

In fact, if you ban the ISP, it WILL help them to act, like the article explains as well.

We had the same situation on Undernet (maybe even twice). ISP wouldnt do a thing, untill it was banned. The massive ammount of users that called them asking why they couldnt join Undernet finally made them acting upon the abuse report, as they should have right away...

Its a very crude thing to do, as it affects many mnay good users, but if the actions of a single man affect the network in such ways, theres ultimately only one thing left a network can resort too...
