As you might have seen by now, I added the possibility to advertise on IRC-Junkie's homepage with the standard 468-60 banner format. We still have a few slots free, so if you are interested in advertising on this medium, with an target audience that is serious about IRC, get in contact with me to discuss any possibilities.
I can offer full advertising reports, geo-targeting, targeting towards specific OS and browser (interesting for clients only available for a certain OS), etc.

There is something I want to say about advertising-blocking software. I noticed there is a difference in the amount of pages viewed, and the ammount of views of the banner. Not a great difference, but enough to see there are content stealers active.

"Content stealers?" I can hear you say? Yes, content stealers. Let me explain to you what I mean with that. I run this (and other sites) for fun. I do not want to go in full explanation in how much time goes in a site like this, but often a fairly decent article eventually needs about a full day to write. Getting all the opinions from all 'sides', filtering out what's important, condense that into an article, then get another reaction from the people involved, and then finally make it into the final article ready for going online. Then there is time going into developing PHP scripts too, like the script I am making now for the "IRC in the News" side-bar.

I too am annoyed by popup/under, animated, flash and other irritating types of advertising on some sites. That's why I really do my best to have banners that are not to intrusive on my sites. And I really doubt the standard 468-60 banner that I added about a week ago is negatively affecting your browsing experience on this site.

This is a hobby for me, but it also costs me money. I run a few sites and put all the money I get in on one heap, and from there I pay the domains, hosting costs and software needs (anyone saw a good WYSIWYG HTML/PHP editor in opensource?). And if then a small sum is leftover (which never happened to me, trust me) I might stick that into something fun related to the sites.

I greatly appreciate the support these companies give me, and I do my best to pick out quality sponsors as well. Now that I explained this, I hope you have respect for the content sites as this one give you, completely for free. Advertisers make the web happen.

Iv got a Question

i dont mind your adds cuz iv learn to ignore 99% of the last 12 years but anyway

what i never did find out is how the advertising works for you
i know if u click on a link u get like 2 cents for every click

but what im tryin to find is 1 click per ip block or the online ip? if u get me?
like for example u click your add link once.. then about 5 mins later u click it again ..does the 2 clicks bring in money or just the 1 per ip?

It doesnt matter at all if you click the banner or not. I just ask a price per month, not per number of views or clicks.

People who block ads never, ever, ever are going to click on ads. Ever. They are not your target audience, so don't bother trying to whine at them. I for one block ads, and I do so merrily. I do not need to be bothered when viewing webpages by something that will never receive any attention from me. I do not believe I have intentionally clicked an advertisement ever; accidentally, yes, I have clicked in mistake.

If you're so petty on the cost of the website, get rid of all the images, and offer a text-only website and use mod_gzip. Oh, and require a registration fee. Yeah, that'll work about as effective as advertisement.

It is not a matter of clicking them or not, but SHOWING them. The income heavily depends on how many times you can show an ad or banner. So yes, you would even help the sites you appreciate (I guess?) by just allowing those ads go through.

Hi,

Advertising on irc-junkie is not only value for money, but it also gives asmo some return for all his hard effort and brings ppl to the site, currently ( just my banner for example ) from irc-junkie is getting 5 - 10 clicks a day through irc-junkie. Its not just about volume either, irc-junkie is a communal meeting place for irc-junkies alike, where news is shed out to the masses, and where one can find up to date information on what is happening in the irc-world. I would rather advertise to the industry that something not related.. anyhow... hope everyone is keeping well...

laters y'all

Just out of curiosity. How much do you charge for advertising? And do you have any slots available? Thanks.

20$ a month, with a 2 month minimum (due to fee for PayPal), when you buy 6 months, you get a 7th for free.

There are currently slots available.
