IRC.EFNet.CH Supports IPv6

Sunday, March 9th, 2008

Another EFNet server adds supports IPv6.

Recently IRC.EFNet.CH added support for the IPv6 protocol. IRC-Junkie asked IRC EFNet.CH admin Taliz for how long IPv6 has been supported on EFNet. “Ratbox is an early fork of Hybrid 7 and, if I recall correctly, has always supported IPv6. Hybrid 7 has supported IPv6 since it was released back in 2003(there were however a lot of Betas & RC’s supporting IPv6 as well, which ratbox built on, dating back to 2001).”

Sentence Spam Convicted Maintains

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

The Virginia Supreme Court affirmed the sentence against the first convicted spammer in the USA, saying anti-spam laws do not violate freedom of speech.

Jeremy Jaynes of Raleigh, N.C was one of the world top spammers in 2003. The case he was convicted in was built on a single action where he produced 53,000 emails in 3 days in July 2003. He was sentenced to 9 years in jail.

Jaynes said in his defense that his spamming actions do not fall under anti-spam legislation because of freedom of speech guaranteed under the First Amendment.

New Design

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Here we go, all should be working OK. And not a moment too late either!

If you have been frequently visiting the site the past few days you noticed a few glitches. First the HD with the MySQL database went *kapoof*, that was fairly quickly fixed luckily. But then later we got that typical error again phpBB seems to popup regularly and it all went into debug mode.

Just these are reason enough for me to switch. I also started to really dislike the old design. It started to show its age. Add to that that most was standard phpBB skin. Original idea was to design my own template, but you know how those things go. No time, MODs work with default Subsilver skin only, etc. etc.
