Colorful previews an iGame Ultra ATX board for AMD Ryzen processors
Colorful has shown the first images of a new iGame Ultra motherboard for AMD Ryzen processors with AM5 socket. The preview reveals an ATX design with four memory slots and two reinforced PCIe slots. The company has not yet communicated the full name of the model or the chipset it uses.
The publication comes from the official Colorful account on Weibo. For now this is a visual preview: there is no technical sheet, price or sale date. The image allows you to identify several hardware elements, but does not know the electrical characteristics or the speeds of their connections.
Four memory slots and two CPU power connectors
The board uses AMD’s AM5 socket and places four memory slots on your right. Colorful has not specified the maximum supported capacity or supported DDR5 speeds. Nor has it indicated which specific Ryzen families will appear on its support list, a fact that will depend on the product sheet and the available BIOS versions.
In the upper area there are two eight-pin EPS connectors for powering the processor. Its presence allows current to be carried to the CPU power circuit through two cables, but it does not by itself reveal how many phases that circuit has or its capacity. These figures are still pending confirmation and cannot be deduced from the size of the heatsinks that appear in the image.
The photograph also shows large covers around the socket and a graphic finish typical of the Ultra family. The material released does not show the back of the board nor does it allow all its connectors to be identified.
Two reinforced PCIe slots and a diagnostic indicator
The new iGame Ultra features two PCIe slots with metal reinforcement. The main one incorporates a quick release mechanism that would make it easier to remove a graphics card when its heatsink makes it difficult to reach the conventional tab. The image allows the system to be recognized, although Colorful has not detailed its operation or the versions and number of PCIe lines assigned to each slot.
Next to the edge of the plate you can see a two-digit diagnostic indicator. This type of screen shows codes during startup and helps locate initialization errors, but there is still no manual that allows you to know the specific codes for this model. The number of M.2 slots, USB ports, network connectivity or the presence of WiFi have also not been confirmed.
What the ATX format brings to the iGame Ultra family
The ATX format distinguishes it from the iGame B850M Ultra-S and Ultra-OC that Colorful presented in May, both Micro-ATX. The difference matters when choosing the computer case: The new model needs space for an ATX board, while the previous ones fit in Micro-ATX compatible chassis. Having a larger surface also gives room to distribute the components, although the photograph is not enough to conclude that it incorporates more connections.
The previous iGame B850M Ultra-S uses a B850 chipset and a 14+2+1 phase power system with 80 A stages. Colorful specifies for it up to 256 GB of DDR5, three M.2 slots, 2.5 Gb Ethernet networking and WiFi 7. The B850M Ultra-OC, also Micro-ATX, reduces memory to two slots and offers four M.2, 5 Gb Ethernet and a 10+2+1 phase circuit with 60 A stages. Colorful announces DDR5-8800 for the latter via manual overclock, compared to DDR5-8400 for the Ultra-S.
These data are used to locate the plates that Colorful already sells, but they do not describe the new ATX. Even between two B850M Ultra models presented at the same time there are differences in memory, storage and network. Therefore, until its technical sheet appears, the next board cannot be assigned any of those capabilities or assume that it will use B850. Colorful has also not indicated whether the two EPS connectors must be occupied for normal operation or if the second is reserved for demanding configurations.
We also need to know how the PCIe lines are distributed between the two reinforced slots and the M.2 units.. The physical layout shows where the cards would be installed, but does not allow us to calculate the available bandwidth or whether any connection would share resources when mounting multiple SSDs. This is relevant information for anyone who intends to use a graphics card together with other expansion cards and several fast drives. The future sheet should also clarify how many M.2 connectors work with each generation of PCIe.
Colorful describes the upcoming product as a proposition for gaming, content creation and overclocking. The company has confirmed that it will release it through JD.com in China, but has not yet indicated when it will be on sale or if it will reach other markets. There is also no announced price to compare it with the iGame Ultra boards that are already part of its catalog.
