DLSS 5 reduces its VRAM consumption by 20% and confirms its arrival in Hogwarts Legacy and RTX Spark laptops

NVIDIA has set a date for the arrival of DLSS 5 to new titles in its catalog, with the announcement that Hogwarts Legacy will receive this technology next November 5. As confirmed, the integration will be accompanied by a revision of the algorithm that doubles the execution speed compared to the version presented just a few weeks ago.

This optimization is not limited to increasing the frame rate, but directly reduces the demands on the graphics card. The neural network has decreased in size by 24%, placing its volume around 118 million parameterswhile the use of VRAM memory in 4K resolution drops by 20%. What does this translate into? Well, the overhead on the GPU is reduced by half compared to the September version, maintaining similar fidelity.

All the new features of DLSS 5 that you should put on your radar

As we already knew, the first title to incorporate this optimized model it will be NBA 2K27which will receive an update on October 16 with performance increases of up to 1.4 times. That same day the official launch of DLSS 5 will occur on laptops with NVIDIA RTX Spark and on the GeForce NOW service. For its part, Where Winds Meet will add support for this technology at the end of November, adding to the Multi Frame Generation functions that it already integrated.

For the community dedicated to the modernization of classic video games, the RTX Remix platform will incorporate DLSS 5 on October 23. The tool will allow modders to select which scene elements receive neural network processing in path tracing projects.

And, as we saw when analyzing in detail the neural rendering of DLSS 5, this system uses the geometry and buffers of the graphics engine as a fixed base to generate realistic lighting and materials without altering the original artistic direction.

New performance mode for Frame Generation in the NVIDIA app

Along with the DLSS 5 schedule, the company has announced other things. For example, you have released a beta update to the NVIDIA app that adds a profile focused on maximizing fluidity. This is the so-called Preset C within the DLSS Override settings, an option designed to accelerate the generation of frames on GeForce RTX 40 and GeForce RTX 50 cards, as well as RTX Spark laptops.

To achieve this, the system replaces the secondary AI model, which is responsible for calculating optical flow at the interface and in ray-traced effects, with a lighter algorithm. In this way, in cards like GeForce RTX 5060frame rate increases up to 35% with minimal adjustments to image quality.

The feature is available in the graphics section of the app for those who have access to experimental features enabled.
