CXMT to match Micron’s manufacturing capacity with up to 350,000 DRAM wafers by the end of 2026

We have already seen how the popularity of the Chinese DRAM memory manufacturer CXMT has grown considerably in recent days. The manufacturer now offers itself as a viable alternative to major manufacturers, which are Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron. CXMT is receiving more orders and has decided to expand its manufacturing capacity, which can now match that of Micron itself. CXMT is expected to offer a capacity of up to 350,000 wafers before the end of 2026.

CXMT accelerates its expansion to compete with large memory manufacturers

The popularity of this manufacturer has made it redirect its expansion strategy. Where it was initially offered as a local Chinese alternative for products sold there, it is now expanding to offer itself as a global DRAM memory manufacturer.

It is expected that CXMT reaches production of up to 350,000 DRAM wafers by the end of 2026approaching the 375,000 wafers that Micron intends to manufacture during the same period. These forecasts will be met as long as the expansion plans of each of the manufacturers are successfully completed.

Chinese manufacturer builds new factories in half the time

What is striking about this expansion by CXMT is the ability to build the facilities needed to increase manufacturing. The Chinese manufacturer is capable of building the rooms for manufacturing silicon in just 12 monthswhile other manufacturers take up to 24 months.

Restrictions on EUV lithography remain one of its biggest challenges

Another obstacle that CXMT has to overcome is access to advanced lithography machinery, as it is among the companies affected by the restrictions imposed by the United States.

The manufacturer uses machines DUV and uses other techniques to simulate lithography EUV latest generation. With this technology it is capable of offering memory chips G4 a 20% smaller and with higher speeds, available in capacities of 16 GB and 24 GB. It also has memory LPDDR5X from up to 10,667 MT/s in capabilities of 12 and 16 GB.

China wants other manufacturers to also produce DRAM memory

Maybe CXMT is not the only Chinese manufacturer to fully enter this DRAM memory market. The Chinese government is urging the manufacturer to transfer part of its intellectual property so that other domestic manufacturers can produce memory with a similar technological level.

Other manufacturers such as XMC (owned by YMTC) They also enjoy great popularity in China, although at the moment it is not known if this strategy will be aimed solely at supplying the local market or if it will also seek to expand to the rest of the world, following the path of CXMT.
