Intel prepares a 25 W Panther Lake processor to make portable gaming consoles cheaper

A few days ago a new series processor appeared Intel Panther Lake. A new processor with only 8 CPU cores and 4 integrated iGPU coreswhich is rumored to correspond to a more economical range of the Intel Arc G3 Series. At the moment nothing is confirmed, but since videocardz they have managed to know that the TDP range of this new processor will reach a maximum of 25 W.

Consumption range from 8 to 25 W focused on cheaper portable consoles

As they tell us, the range will be between 8 W minimum and 25 W maximumoffering a configuration below the current ones Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extremewhich are capable of reaching 30 and 35 W respectively. However, all 3 start at 8W minimum TDP. This new addition, if it finally hits the market, is intended to offer a range of cheaper portable gaming deviceseven lowering the barrier of 1,000 dollars (and hopefully 1,000 euros).

8-core configuration and Xe3 graphics to compete with AMD Ryzen Z2

For this, Intel has opted for a 8 core configuration in total divided into 4 high performance and 4 ultra low consumptionleaving aside the high-efficiency cores. It has also lowered the integrated GPU, with only 4 Xe3 Corescompared to the 10 and 12 that the Intel Arc G3 and G3 Extreme have. This configuration represents a performance on paper that is 3 times lower than that of the Intel Arc G3 Extreme GPU.

At the moment it is not known what name this new addition will have, nor even if it will belong to the range of processors for Intel Arc G3 consoles. It would be a ideal alternative to AMD Ryzen Z2 (without Extreme) and thus offer consoles with Intel processors at a cheaper price.
