We are still in Berlin and we continue at IFA 2026 seeing the new features that manufacturers have made available to us. One of the latest discoveries that we have been able to see in person is the Navimow H5 Pro, a new wireless robotic lawnmower designed for areas where the terrain is irregular. The brand, which owns Segway, has explained to us that they seek to overcome the typical drawback of this segment, namely the inability of many robots to overcome slopes.

Likewise, the Navimow H5 Pro also addresses another of the headaches of these products. Perhaps someone on the Navimow design team wondered the same thing and, for that reason, the H5 Pro comes with an extendable arm that is responsible for making the cutting of the terrain as quick as possible. According to the brand, with this solution, it is capable of cutting grass that grows next to walls or in corners flush.

Let’s talk a little more about that telescopic arm

The telescopic arm of the Novimow H5 Pro It is about 7.7 centimeters. The system, which the brand calls EdgeMaestro, is completely integrated into the chassis and only acts when necessary. In this way, the robot is capable of maintaining the necessary safety distance with the perimeter areas, while at the same time reviewing them with maximum effectiveness. It is a mechanism capable of reaching the exact point in order to mow flush with hardly any separation from obstacles.

And how is the robot able to know when and how to extract the arm? Well, the company has explained to us that the equipment incorporates a system called EdgeSense. This is software that is responsible for coordinating the movements the arm makes to approach the margins and retract when necessary. The tool adapts the path even to guarantee effectiveness on uneven or abrupt terrain. As if that were not enough, Novimow has made an effort to ensure that this entire system is silent and does not disturb too much.

This robot is a complete 4×4

Another important point that we already highlighted at the beginning of this chronicle is the H5 Pro’s ability to overcome slopes. The Segway team has decided that the Xero-Turn all-wheel drive is the most appropriate for this robot. It works in a similar way to how many electric cars do. Instead of using a transmission system, the robot has an independent motor in each wheel.

In this way, the lawnmower can intelligently control exactly the torque sent to each wheel. The result is striking because, according to the brand, the Navimow H5 Pro can overcome slopes of up to 80% without loss of traction. Likewise, thanks to this scheme, it can rotate on itself, guaranteeing effective movement on practically any plot.

It does not matter much what slopes the robot is able to overcome if the navigation is not good. Navimow relies in this case on LiDAR technology, which, combined with optical vision cameras and NRTK satellite kinematic technology, manages to adapt the trajectory so that the cut is as effective as possible. Thanks to this technology, the robot is also able to identify animals and other obstacles. In fact, during the presentation we were specifically told about small animals, such as hedgehogs. If the mower detects one, it disengages the blades and diverts to avoid causing damage.

The first impressions that this Navimow H5 Pro leaves us, without trying it, are that it is a whole array of technologies that seek, as it should, to make our lives easier. After all, if these solutions are only partially effective, are they really worth it?
