ASUS Googlebook CX9406 leaks with Core Ultra 5 325, up to 64 GB of RAM and a 47 TOPS NPU

The first ASUS laptop under the new category Googlebook by Google It already has a code name and a fairly complete specification sheet. Is called ASUS Googlebook CX9406known internally as “Lapis”, and has appeared leaked thanks to Digital Citizen, who has published a complete set of press renders of the team.

The leak comes just a day after the Acer Googlebook 14 GP714-91N appeared in a European seller, so the ASUS Googlebook CX9406 confirms that the race for the first Googlebook on the market already has at least two manufacturers working with the same Intel processor under the hood.

14-inch touch screen and up to 64 GB of RAM

The ASUS Googlebook CX9406 mounts a 14 inch touch screen and can be equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 5 325 or Core Ultra 7 355both belonging to the Panther Lake family of Core Ultra Series 3. The configurations tracked so far use 32GB or 64GB of LPDDR5X memory, with Intel Xe3 quad-core Xe graphics and an NPU capable of reaching 47 TOPS.

None of this data has yet been confirmed by ASUS. It is a relevant caveat because, although Digital Citizen’s renders seem definitive, the manufacturer has not published a technical sheet or press release about the CX9406 at the time of writing this.

A fine chassis with Google’s Glowbar

The renders show a slim dark gray chassis with Google’s multicolored Glowbar on the lidthe lighting element that identifies the new category of laptops. ASUS would be using, according to these same images, a alloy called Ultra-Ceramic Light Alloy for the body of the team.

An iF Design listing spotted before this leak claimed that the CX9406 would weigh less than 1 kgand that the chassis material would be 34% lighter and 13% stronger compared to previous solutions. That page contained unfinished text and has since been completely removed, so these two specific figures should be treated as an unconfirmed leak and not as a closed specification.

The second Googlebook with Panther Lake in less than 24 hours

This is not the first Googlebook with Intel silicon to leak this week. Just yesterday it became known that the Acer Googlebook 14 GP714-91N is already listed at a European seller with the Core Ultra 5 325, 16 GB of memory and a 14-inch 2.8K OLED screen. Previous information had also linked the Acer team with configurations of the Core Ultra 7 355 and up to 32 GB of memory, a lower RAM ceiling than what ASUS is now aiming for with its CX9406.

That two different manufacturers leak equipment with the same processor in the same week has a direct explanation: Google confirmed ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo in May as its hardware partners for Googlebook, with the first systems scheduled for fall 2026. The closer that date gets, the more logical it is that renders and listings of several brands will begin to appear at the same time.

For now, ASUS has not confirmed pricestorage configurations or the final display specifications of the CX9406. There is also no specific presentation date beyond the fall window that Google manages for the entire platform.

What this means for the Aluminum OS family

Aluminum OS combines Android and ChromeOS under one baseso the software experience should be virtually identical between the ASUS CX9406 and the Acer model. With both starting from the same Core Ultra 5 325 as an entry option, the design, materials and memory ceiling of each model (32 GB or 64 GB in the case of ASUS, compared to the 16 GB confirmed for now in the Acer) become the real arguments of differentiation between manufacturers.

The 47 TOPS NPU attributed to the CX9406 fits in with the rest of the Panther Lake familydesigned for local artificial intelligence tasks without depending on external servers. If these figures are confirmed, the ASUS Googlebook CX9406 would arrive with an AI power equivalent to that of other laptops with Core Ultra Series 3 already presented on the market, and not with a chip cut specifically for this range.
