Colorful’s Rimbook L1 Plus packs an 8-core Ryzen 7 into just 16.65 mm thickness
Colorful is a brand that most associate with graphics cards and motherboards, but the Chinese company has been deeply involved in the field of laptops for some time now. Its latest addition is the Colorful Rimbook L1 Plusan ultralight device designed for students, professionals and creators looking for plenty of power without carrying a heavy laptop in their backpack.
The Rimbook L1 Plus arrives as the most powerful variant of the Rimbook series, which until now has focused on entry-level computers with Intel processors. This time Colorful changes strategy and opts for AMD silicon, seeking a notable performance jump compared to the original model in the range.
Performance with Ryzen 7 7735HS and integrated graphics
The heart of the Rimbook L1 Plus is the AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processora chip with 8 cores and 16 threads capable of reaching up to 4.75 GHz in boost mode. Colorful accompanies it integrated Radeon 680M graphicssufficient for light editing tasks, photo retouching and most not too demanding games, although without reaching the performance of a dedicated graphics card.
As for memory, The device has 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 6,400 MHzsoldered to the board as is usual in this type of low-consumption chips, along with a 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD for main storage. Colorful has also added two M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 slots, allowing you to expand storage capacity later without relying solely on the factory unit, something that is not always found in laptops in this segment.
Autonomy is the responsibility of a 65 Wh batterywith charging via USB Type C and compatibility with Power Delivery, which also allows the use of universal chargers instead of depending on a proprietary adapter, a practical advantage for those who travel with several devices.
16-inch screen and ultralight design

The screen section is one of the strong points of the Rimbook L1 Plus. Colorful has opted for a 16-inch IPS panel with 2,560 x 1,600 (2.5K) resolution and one 16:10 aspect ratiomore productivity-oriented than the usual 16:9, as it offers more vertical work space when editing documents, spreadsheets or design projects.
The screen reaches a 92.52% body-to-screen ratiothanks to side bezels of only 4 mm and top bezels of 3 mm, which translates into a more immersive experience without increasing the external size of the chassis. Added to that is a 120Hz refresh rate100% color space coverage and 300 nits brightness, a combination that is especially beneficial for photographers and graphic designers who need color reliability when editing their projects.
On the physical front, the Rimbook L1 Plus Weighs just 1.4kg and measures 16.65mm thickwith a matte finish metal top cover that gives it a more premium look than the previous generation in the series. Colorful has also included Pre-installed WPS Officeso that the device arrives ready to work with documents, spreadsheets and presentations from the first start, without the need to install additional software.
Price and availability

The Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus will be available in silver, with a recommended price of 5,999 yuan, about 778 euros at the current exchange rate. As is usually the case with many of Colorful’s products, the company has not yet confirmed an official date or distribution for the European market, and refers to the brand’s local representatives to check availability and final price in each region.
With the Rimbook L1 Plus, Colorful takes a clear step towards the laptop segment aimed at productivity and content creationa much more competitive terrain than the entry teams where the Rimbook series debuted. The combination of a powerful Ryzen 7 processor, double SSD expansion slot and a quality 120 Hz screen places this model as an alternative to take into account compared to other ultralights from more established brands in the sector, although we will have to wait for it to reach more markets to assess its real impact outside of China.
The move also fits with Colorful’s broader strategy, which has been showing the Rimbook L1 Plus at trade shows such as Computex before confirming its commercial launch, a sign that the company wants to give international visibility to its range of laptops before expanding availability outside of China.
For a brand known above all for its graphics cards and motherboards, betting on a high-end Ryzen processor in such a light chassis also sends a clear message: Colorful does not want to remain only in the entry segment with which the Rimbook series began, but also compete in the price range where the purchasing decisions of students and professionals who are looking for a single device capable of covering work and leisure without compromising portability are made.
