HTC and Google reach an agreement to develop new extended reality devices
HTC and Google have reached an agreement whereby both companies will join efforts to create new developments in the XR or “extended reality” market, where “joining efforts” is specified in a Cash injection of 250 million dollars from Google to HTCand the Transfer of employees of the XR division from HTC to Google.
In addition, Google will also receive intellectual property licenses of HTC XR developments, leading to a closer collaboration for the development of new extended reality solutions.
The searches giant and online advertising announced not long ago its Android XR project for virtual and augmented reality glasses, so it would not be unreasonable to think about future hardware releases in the form of VR/AR/XR glasses that HTC would be responsible for manufacturing.
Although the Smartphones business of the former dominant HTC is in its lowest hours, the company is responsible for creating virtual reality devices such as HTC VIV or the HTC Live Focus Visionso experience are not lacking.
