Jaykihn answered the question directly: when asked if the Razor Lake-AX uses Coyote Cove high-performance cores and Arctic Wolf efficiency cores, or the more recent combination of Griffin Cove and Golden Eagle, the leaker responded with the acronym “CYC ARW”in reference to Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf. Intel has not confirmed any of this officially and, for the moment, all information depends on the reliability of this source.

Nova Lake cores sneak into the AX

Jaykihn’s answer implies that Razor Lake-AX would retain more technology from the Nova Lake generation than its name suggests. The Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf cores are precisely the ones that Intel has confirmed for the consumer Nova Lake family, so their presence in Razor Lake-AX would point to a platform that shares a common computing base with the rest of the generation, although under a different commercial name.

Jaykihn confirmed separately, in the same conversation on X, that the Razor Lake-S (the conventional desktop variant) uses a different P and E core configuration than Razor Lake-AX. That is to say, although both chips would share a generation of architecture, Intel would have chosen to distribute the cores differently depending on the segment each one is aimed at, something common when the same family of cores is adapted to products with different consumption and size objectives.

It still remains to be resolved How Razor Lake-AX will fit into Intel’s commercial catalog. The Nova Lake processors aim to be part of the Core Ultra 400 series, but the company has not confirmed what name it will use for this APU or if it will follow exactly the same numbering.

Jaykihn was asked directly about this question, specifically whether the Razor Lake-AX will belong to the Core Ultra 400 series or will make the jump to a possible 500 series. The leaker did not respond, so The nomenclature continues to be one of the unknowns surrounding the chip.

It would also not be strange if Intel chose to differentiate it from the rest of the desktop processors. Razor Lake-AX aims for a very particular design, with a BGA package, integrated memory and a large GPU, so it does not quite fit with the traditional concept of a desktop CPU. A name of its own would better reflect that position within the range, although for now there is no information that confirms that Intel is going to follow that path.

The only thing clear at this point is that Intel has not yet officially announced Razor Lake-AX. Both the blocking of overclocking and the use of Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf cores, the differences compared to Razor Lake-S and the nomenclature itself come from leaks and should continue to be treated as such until the company presents the product.
