Intel Tiger Lake-H: The Willow Cove architecture at 10 nanometers reaches high-performance laptops with PCIE 4.0, Thunderbolt 4 and WiFi 6e
Although Intel “announced” these processors already in January, it really was not a launch and no details about models, configurations or performance were given. It is now, four months later, when Intel really announces the Intel Core H processors of eleventh generation for high-performance laptops, the Intel Tiger Lake-H family.
This implies the arrival of the architecture of Willow Cove nuclei at 10 nanometers to the gaming and high -performance portable market, with a performance of up to 19% more than the architecture prior to 14 Nm and new technologies such as PCI Express 4.0, Thunderbolt 4 or Support for WiFi 6e among others. All this together with the new Intel XE graphic architecture that we already saw in the low consumption models, although in this case with 32 computer units against the 96 that reached processors such as the Core i7-1165g7 for example.
Intel Core H-Series and Xeon Specifications of eleventh generation
We will have 10 new processors destined for high -performance portables, gaming, creators and also to work stations, since half of the range is aimed at business environments and even two processors of the XEON range are included.
The most powerful model will be the Core i9-11980hk, with 8 nuclei and 16 threads with up to 5 GHz of Boost and unlocked multiplier for Overclock. It is followed by other models of the Core I9, Core I7 range and even Core i5. Intel has simplified the denomination of the models for the consumer market, leaving those that end in 50 for the commercial market.

The XEON range also includes technologies such as ECC memory (error correction), VPRO technology, memory encrypted and much more for professionals and systems that require extra security.
The PCI Express 4.0 and Thunderbolt 4 reaches high-performance portables with Tiger Lake- H
As for technology novelties, beyond the new architecture, the support of PCI Express 4.0 finally arrives by Intel in high performance laptops. Specifically, 20 PCIE 4.0 lines will be available with Boonable Raid0 support with Intel Rapid Storage or RST technology.
The Thunderbolt 4, already available in the 11 low consumption gene, will also be supported on this new platform with 40 GBPS of bandwidth through USB-C
In addition, technologies such as resizable bar will also be present, or support for SSD Optane H20.
Intel Killer Wifi 6E card support with speeds above the gigabit per second
Tiger Lake-H processors performance
The most powerful model, the Core I9-11970HK, is intended for laptops for enthusiasts, with support for Overclock and the latest in connectivity and performance.
Intel promises performance improvements ranging from 5% of up to 21% in some titles if we compare it with the previous generation, the Core I0-10980HK, together with RTX 3080 graphics.
The comparisons against AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX show, always according to Intel data, a yield from 11% to 26% more.
Intel has also compared a Core i5-11400H with the AMD Ryzen 5 5900hs, where the Intel solution shows similar performance, although it must be taken into account that the HS is a reduced TDP processor.
As for content creation, Intel boasts of technologies such as Intel Quick Sync, thanks to the Hardware Support of Integrated Graphs Iris XE. In addition to the PCIE gene 4 or Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, ideal to achieve more speed in internal and external storage.
In programs such as Adobe Afterephfects, or office productivity, Intel promises up to 19% more performance in the Core I9-11980K than the Ryzen 9 5900HX.
In professional environments, compared to last generation, we have improvements of up to 29% performance.
There will be more than 80 laptops with these new processors.
Intel Core processors of eleventh generation H will reach more than 80 portable models over the coming months, including developments such as 360 Hz Full HD screens and 1440p screens much more commonly more common.
