Intel will show the details of Diamond Rapids, the Crescent Island GPU and the Core Series 3 Wildcat Lake at Hot Chips 2026
At this year’s Hot Chips event, Intel has revealed new details of three of its upcoming architectures aimed at servers, data centers and low-power laptops: the processors Intel Xeon Diamond Rapidsthe GPU for inference acceleration Crescent Island and low-power laptop processors Wildcat Lakewhich will reach the market under the name Intel Core Series 3.
Xeon Diamond Rapids: Up to 256 cores made of Intel 18A-P
For data centers and servers, the company has shown the architecture of the upcoming Intel Xeon processors codenamed Diamond Rapids. These chips will be manufactured under the Intel 18A-P node and will use Foveros Direct 3D packaging along with the UCIe-S interconnect.
They will have up to 256 cores per socketaccompanied by 1.28 GB of LLC cache memory, support for 16 memory channels at 12,800 MT/s, 128 PCI Express 6.0 lanes with CXL 3.0, support for APX instructions (Advanced Performance Extensions) and improvements in AMX matrix extensions.
Crescent Island GPU with 480 GB LPDDR5X and Xe3P architecture
In the section of accelerators for artificial intelligence, Intel has presented Crescent Island, a PCIe card with a consumption of 350 W that is air cooled.
This GPU is based on the Intel Xe3P architecture and has 32 Xe cores along with 256 XMX matrix engines. It is equipped with up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X memory for inference of large LLM models without having to go to solutions with higher consumption and price with more expensive memories such as HBM.
Wildcat Lake for low-power laptops
Finally, in the low-power segment for laptops and compact-sized systems, Intel has shown them Wildcat Lake chips that will give life to the next generation of Intel Core Series 3 CPUs. Manufactured in the Intel 18A process, these processors are the company’s first for the consumer market that use UCIe interconnection between chiplets or modules.
