Microsoft confirms Windows 11 25h2 and de facto postpag the launch of Windows 12

First, Microsoft said Windows 10 would be the latest version of the operating system. Then, Windows 11 arrived and rumors began on the launch of Windows 12 for June 2024. Now, the company has finally clarified that There will be no Windows 12 this year. Instead, the company will bet on a new version of Windows 11, identified as 25h2whose launch is scheduled for the Second half of 2025.

As Microsoft indicates, from the technical point of view, 25h2 will share the same platform and services base as version 24h2which will allow the update to be done much faster and more simple. Microsoft has indicated that it will suffice with a restart, as if it were a monthly cumulative update.

Although this new compilation does not incorporate functions at the moment, the company has already detailed what its deployment strategy will be: The new features will be developed to 25h2but they will gradually introduce into the 24h2 monthly updates. Of course, they will remain disabled until the time is to officially activate them. This is an approach that Microsoft has already used in previous versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11.
