MSI launches the Katana 15 HX C14 with an RTX 5070 in a 2.1 kg chassis
MSI has started the availability of the Katana 15 HX C14the renewal of its 15.6-inch gaming laptop. The computer combines 14th generation Intel Core HX processors with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 50 graphics and debuts a thinner and lighter chassis than the one used by the previous generation.
The company directs this family to players and students who are looking for graphic power, expansion possibilities and a transportable format. The new model weighs 2.1 kg and reaches 22.9 mm in thickness, figures that represent a reduction of 12.5% in weight and 10.2% in profile.
Up to a Core i9-14900HX and a GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop
The top configuration combines the Intel Core i9-14900HX with a GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop. The processor has 24 cores, divided between eight P-Cores and 16 E-Cores, and reaches a maximum turbo frequency of 5.8 GHz. The graphics card provides GDDR7 memory, ray tracing and compatibility with DLSS 4.5.
MSI allows CPU and GPU to jointly reach up to 170W. To control that power, the Cooler Boost system uses two fans, three heat pipes, and four air vents. This figure corresponds to the combined budget of the equipment and does not represent the exclusive consumption of the graphics card.
The advertised screen uses a 15.6-inch IPS-Level panel with QHD resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels. It offers a frequency of 165 Hz and coverage of 100% of the DCI-P3 space. The note indicates that specifications may change depending on the country and the marketed configuration.
Up to 96 GB of DDR4 memory and two PCIe 4.0 SSDs
The Katana 15 HX C14 It has two SO-DIMM slots and supports up to 96 GB of memory. MSI considers configurations with DDR4 memory. The capacity and final equipment will depend on the market.
Storage can also be expanded by two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots. This layout allows you to add a second drive without necessarily having to replace the factory-installed SSD, an advantage for game libraries and projects that take up a lot of space.
Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4accompanied by Ethernet for wired network. The laptop too incorporates USB-C with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.0.
New design, RGB keyboard and 60 Wh battery
The redesign preserves the katana-inspired aesthetic. The lid incorporates overlapping patterns that simulate cuts, a printed metallic emblem and details based on the hamon, the visible line on the edge of Japanese swords.
The keyboard has RGB backlighting divided into four zones, 1.7mm travel, translucent keys and number pad. The lighting can be configured by Mystic Light inside MSI Centerwhile MSI AI Engine adjusts certain system parameters depending on the type of use.
The battery offers a capacity of 60 Wh and the equipment is supplied with a 240 W adapter. Its equipment is completed with an HD camera and two 2 W speakers with DTS processing. USB-C charging makes it easy to use compatible adapters, although full hardware power requires the included charger.
MSI has announced that the Katana 15 HX C14 is now available through its local pages and authorized distributors. The note does not provide a common price nor does it yet confirm a specific configuration and rate for Spain.
