Neither generative AI, nor microtransactions: Rockstar is committed to a pure experience with its new GTA VI
We already knew that Grand Theft Auto VI would be released on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in two versions. However, we now also know that it will do so without any type of internal microtransaction that speeds up or facilitates progress in the story. We also know that it comes with a totally free development of generative AI.
We have been able to confirm all this thanks to a briefing and a closed-door demonstration of no more and no less than three hours long organized for the Kinda Funny Games channel at the Rockstar North offices in Edinburgh. The company has clearly assured that the title will arrive without internal monetization during its initial launch.
Generative AI and micropayments vetoed by Rockstar
The first thing that stands out is the rejection of AI by developers. While other industry studios have increased their dependence on automated tools to reduce translation or layout costs, The development of this title has dispensed with any type of algorithm. This applies to the entire technical and artistic design process.
On the other hand, the stadium has also ruled out in-game payments. Despite this, the publisher is going to put on sale a Ultimate special edition for 99.99 euros compared to 79.99 euros for the standard version. This pack will include exclusive cosmetic items, vehicles, and access to specific establishments on the map such as the Electric Fang tattoo studio or the Stock 305 clothing store.
Buyers of the base version will be able to purchase the upgrade package later to unlock said content gradually throughout the narrative campaign. Now, those who prefer to get the basic version will not have to pay this extra, if they do not want to. Neither at the time of purchase, nor as they play.
Many details about the imminent GTA VI
During the three hours of testing on a standard PlayStation 5 console, the title ran at 1440p resolution with the frame rate set at a stable 30 frames per second. The graphics section stands out for the number of NPCs on screen and the physics applied to hair and lighting. The game system delves into the photorealism inherited from Red Dead Redemption 2, imposing physical limits on the management of the player’s equipment.
Something very interesting and that adds realism is that the main characters, Jason and Lucia, will only be able to carry short weapons on their bodies, while rifles and other heavy weapons must be stored in the trunk of a vehicle or carried on their backs. The latter causes pedestrians to become alert. Likewise, the game’s economy will require cash to be deposited into ATMs to avoid losing it after an arrest. We have also been able to know that the level of police search will recover the six star scale.
The game incorporates simulation elements where rest and muscle mass will affect physical resistance, while the interaction menu will allow criminal actions to be moderated according to a behavioral profile. The focus mode will allow you to slow down time to mark fatal or incapacitating trigger points on the extremities.
Finally, the relationship between both protagonists will evolve depending on the decisions and time they share during missions and the open world. All these small details make up a much more realistic gaming experience, which forces the player to make decisions based on what logic dictates.
