Katsklaw contacted IRC-Junkie with a new initiative called Collectiveirc. “We basicly have a “core” which consists of dedicated servers and services when other entire networks link to us and the only thing the networks lose is the output in raw 005 (return of /map command, ed.) and any network rule that would cause a severe conflict with other networks core.”

The regulars of this website are probably also regulars of mIRC.net, another old-timer when it comes to IRC websites. And if you are indeed so, you might probably also have noticed that mIRC.net has been down for a while already.

An Israelian startup company named IRSeeK has started a debate in the IRC community. The company started to log IRC chats and make them available through a search engine on their website.

In the past the logging of IRC channels without the consent or approval of the channel owners and visitors caused great discussion several times. Most often the motives behind these logging bots were to monitor the channels for illegal filetrading, carding and similar criminal offenses.

mIRC(.com) Gets a New Face

I can’t remember the logo of the most popular IRC client to ever had an upgrade or restyling. It happened now however, not a radical change, but one into an extra dimension making it 3D.

In 3D with a few gradients it got itself an update. The program itself also got an update to version 6.31. “For scripters, we hope you like the changes to the script editor. The interface has been improved, it is now cleaner and easier to read, we added Check Bracket/Sort Variables items to Edit menu, line numbers to the margin, and enter/home key indentation support. The editor also no longer flickers when resized”, the website reports. Speaking of, the website got an overhaul as well and matches the new design.
