Some Danish supermarkets are testing robots to replenish products
Robots are not only automating industries and facilitating many tasks for operators, they are also entering other types of more everyday environments. Proof of this is found in the Danish supermarket chain sallingwhich is testing in its stores Hive humanoid robots that help with product replenishment. This way, employees will have more free time to serve customers and take care of other tasks.
Hive Robots in supermarkets: autonomous product replenishment
Robots allow employees to be freed from the burden of products and continuous replenishment, and for this in a supermarket chain of Copenhagen is teaching robots to perform these tasks. At the moment, the robots are being operated by humans, but the goal is for them to work autonomous at the beginning of 2027. This human-led pre-operation aims to train the robots with the necessary skills to handle different types of food correctly.
Robots belong to Hive Robotsand are manufactured by the Chinese company Unitreeand they have been training since June. It is intended that these robots, once the mechanics of replacement have been learned, will work autonomously at night. It is expected that later they will even verify the product expiration dateslocate products incorrectly placed in other places and even detect when a product needs to be replaced.
Supermarket robots still need human supervision
But at the moment this is an experiment, since the robots still work slowly and with a constant supervisionsomething that is not part of the main ideal.
