The cost increases in RAM will make the Samsung Galaxy S27 series more expensive by at least 85 euros in its base model
According to information coming directly from South Korea, there is an upward revision in launch prices in the future Samsung Galaxy S27 family. According to leaks from the industrial sector published by a local informant, the brutal memory and component crisis is to blame.
As is happening throughout the sector, the increasing prices of NAND flash and DRAM memories are forcing the official prices of many products to be modified. With all this on the table, Samsung jumps on the bandwagon and plans to apply a general increase in prices in all versions of its next generation of smartphones high-end.
According to the tipster’s estimates, the minimum increase is around 130,000 won. This, applying the current exchange rate, is equivalent to about 85 additional euros for the base model. However, as is logical, the price jump will be even higher in the configurations with greater storage capacity, where the 1 TB variants could approach 2,000 euros. A real madness.
An important detail that we cannot overlook is that this increase has to do with the arrival of LPDDR6 modules in the most advanced versions, a more expensive component than LPDDR5X memory current.
Apple can be the mirror where Samsung looks at itself
To fully understand how the market moves, you have to take a look at what has happened to the competition. If we are clear about one thing, it is that this movement is not isolated and reflects the inflationary trend that the high-end segment of smartphones.
Apple itself has placed the iPhone 18 Pro Max at a starting price of 1,619 euros, raising the configuration with 2 TB to 3,119 euros in our market. The saturation of semiconductor production lines to feed memory and other components to AI data centers is passing on the extra cost of the components directly to the final consumer.
Beyond the strictly technical part, there is something that should concern us. And this increase in price could be definitively consolidated in the market. The arrival of devices like the iPhone Duo with starting prices of more than 2,000 euros helps push up the prices of traditional formats.
It is true that the memory supply crisis caused by the demand for AI will stabilize in the future. However, we may encounter one manufacturers who will hardly lower prices once users get used to the new pricing scales.
