These are the Snapdragon C, the CPUs that will allow 300 Euro laptops

During these intense days of Computex, which are always a chaos of meetings and visits, with countless formal talks in the form of powerful keynotes, but also round tables where we can delve not only into the data, but into the thoughts behind the decisions of the most important executives of many of the brands that fill our content throughout the year.

Through Qualcomm we have learned not only about its most interesting new features, but also about the history of the brand and how they have been colonizing every aspect of our professional and personal computing lives. It must be remembered that their integrations are in 5G systems, Wi-Fi access points, 5G routers, laptops, now desktop computers, AIO computers, watches and, of course, mobile devices.

Although the series Snapdragon C It was presented on the 28th, a couple of days before our visit to Qualcomm during Computex, the truth is that we have been able to learn a lot more during these days with them. They have told us about what they see in this series of processors a new opportunity in the heat of the memory availability crisis and the increasing prices not only of RAMbut also other components such as storage.

For many of you who think that it is Qualcomm’s answer to the MacBook Neo, according to brand executives they defend that this processor was already on its internal roadmap long before Apple launched this product. They saw a market niche to exploit, offering a good combination of performance and autonomy in the Windows market for an entry price which is highly derived from the price and availability situation of RAM that we have experienced since the end of 2025 and all of 2026.

They do recognize that Apple’s design has broken, verbatim words, Some of the unwritten rules of modern PC integrationsuch as using mobile processors in this format, asymmetric connectivity, etc.

About the Snapdragon C, I was able to get my hands on the beautiful prototype that gives life to the platformin anodized aluminum in the brand’s classic red, with a very “MacBook” look and a much more perfected finish than other alternatives that we have seen with this new processor during Computex.

The Snapdragon C is based on a mobile architecture from around 2021, with an 8 core configurationin a 1+3+4 arrangement, the first four based on Arm Cortex-A78 architecture, with differentiated frequencies, and the other four efficiency based on the classic ARM Cortex-A55. The GPU is an Adreno 643 and comes with an AI NPU unit with 12 TOPs. Support USB 3.1 and Ultra High Definition DisplayPort video outputs. It is based on a 6nm process.

We have not had the opportunity to run benchmarks during the demo of this unit, with the justification that it was a development device without the final features of the product, but we should expect the performance of the Qualcomm laptop platform from before the X series, specifically the Snapdragon 8c. Very far, therefore, from its more elaborate Windows models.

What we can confirm is that they will be units with 8 GB of RAM, with a maximum storage of 500 GB and that the prices, with taxes included in Spain, will surely be around 500 euros rather than 300. Acer was able to confirm that the Aspire Go 15 will have a final sales price of 499 euros with availability in September.

Windows 11 is also another doubt for me about the success of this platform and we asked its executives about it. On the one hand they recognize that the use of RAM must be optimized and on the other that they are not closed to any other existing operating system, although they believe that their collaboration with Microsoft has so far been very satisfactory for both parties. which undoubtedly invites us to think about Windows 12, although they did not venture to comment on future products from another brand.

The success of Snapdragon C will be decided after the summer, in a favorable time for sales, but we do have confirmation that they will continue to evolve this platform, perhaps with new products, to strengthen this segment.
