Valve will expand the collection of performance data on games on SteamOS
Valve continues working to bring its operating system Steam OS to more devices outside your hardware ecosystem. SteamOS now works on many third-party devices, and developers will have more performance data to be able to optimize the games according to these statistics. In addition to data collection with frame rate reports, developers will also be able to access performance information for each part of the game.
SteamOS will collect more game performance data
Data will continue to be collected anonymousand for the moment this information will begin to be analyzed from the Steam Deck consoles to grant the necessary permission. The new data will allow more precise access to the FPS offered by each gameshowing developers the percentage of the game running at a given FPS speed. This offers more information to understand the actual performance of the game on a given hardware configuration, without having to resort to the average FPS which can be confusing.
Developers will be able to better optimize games for SteamOS
Initially it will begin with the Steam Deckbut surely this data collection will soon extend to other devices with SteamOS, those from Valve itself and third parties. With data distributed in this way, the information will be clearer so that developers can work on the optimization of your games for Valve hardware and other devices running SteamOS.
