Samsung joins the Googlebooks with a laptop with Snapdragon

“Neither Windows 11 nor ChromeOS.” That’s how clear the leak is. After being left out of the initial Googlebook announcement last September, Samsung is preparing its entry into this new category of laptops.

The South Korean firm’s first device under this ecosystem has been registered in the Geekbench 7 database under the name XE940XSA. Technical data confirms that the manufacturer works on a laptop governed by Android 17 instead of betting on Windows or ChromeOS.

Samsung XE940XSA leaked specs and performance on Geekbench

The filtration is loaded. In addition to the specifications, it comes with a record in Geekbench 7 that shows us the integration of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon

The architecture has twelve cores, with four base frequencies at 3.42 GHz and eight main cores at 4.01 GHz. In the synthetic test, The unit reaches 2,513 points in single-core and 15,214 in multi-core within Geekbench 7. Here we leave it all summarized in a table.

Samsung joins the initial manufacturers of the Googlebook ecosystem

Beyond the information on the device itself, this leak is important for a simple reason. And the deployment of this family of computers started weeks ago with reservations opened by Google for models from Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.

In that first batch, Samsung was the big absentee, despite its close historical collaboration with Google, for example, within the Android ecosystem. Given this movement, the appearance of this prototype confirms that the Korean company will expand the catalog to compete against the ARM options already announced by its rivals.

It must be remembered that the Googlebook category represents an important change by Google. It is a new platform, based on Android, that puts AI and the mobile ecosystem at the forefront over the traditional Chromebook.

Obviously, the crisis context in which we operate does not allow us to be very optimistic regarding the sales of these new equipment. Of course, by the time everything starts to relax, Google will already have everything ready to compete with Microsoft in premium ARM-based equipment.
