Apple renews the iMac with the M6 and promises up to five times more AI performance than the model with M4
We already have here the new iMac with Apple’s M6 chip. Following the arrival of the new MacBook Pro M6, the company has presented its new AIO today with a price that starts from 1,819 euros in Spain for the version with 10-core CPU and GPU. Above is the model with 12 cores in both sections, which starts in 2,019 euros and reserves some features for itself, such as the 2.5 Gb Ethernet option or the four Thunderbolt 4 ports. Reservations open tomorrow, October 28, and deliveries begin on Friday, November 6.
According to data from Apple itself, the biggest leap compared to the previous generation is in the AI that runs on the computer itself, with up to five times more performance than the iMac with M4. And the M6 incorporates what the company has called Neural Accelerators In each GPU core, units dedicated to accelerating AI calculations.

Two more cores in CPU and GPU compared to the M4
The M6 of the iMac reaches up to 12 CPU cores and 12 GPU cores, two more in each case than the previous generation, which came with the M4. Apple claims that, with this configuration, the device offers the fastest single-thread performance in the world, that is, the highest speed when solving a task with a single core.

In practice, and according to our own tests against the iMac with M4, Microsoft Excel is up to 1.5 times faster, photo editing in Affinity doubles the speed, and games with ray tracing, a technique that simulates how real light behaves, also perform up to twice as fast. For those who come from an iMac with Intel, the figure that Apple gives is up to 18 times more performance compared to the most popular model with that processor.
Siri AI, WiFi 7 and an SSD twice as fast
The iMac arrives with macOS 27, which debuts Siri AI. An assistant that now has full support for Spanish and availability in the EU (only on Macs, be careful, not on iPhones). This is a new version of the assistant capable of maintaining conversations, searching for information in messages, emails or photos and executing actions between applications. Of course, it will work in beta phase starting with macOS 27.2.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the device is upgraded to WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while the 2.5 Gb Ethernet of the top model is up to 2.5 times faster than that of the previous generation. For its part, the SSD doubles the reading and writing speeds.
As we told you, the iMac can be reserved starting tomorrow on the Apple Store website and app, and will arrive in stores and authorized distributors on November 6, the same day as the new MacBook Pro.
