The new iPad mini makes the leap to an 8.5-inch OLED screen with the A20 Pro SoC from 749 euros
As we expected, Apple has announced, without an event or much fanfare, the renewal of its smallest tablet, the ipad mini. This new model stands out for finally leaving the IPS panels to adopt an OLED screen, called Super Retina XDR by the company.
Taking advantage of this panel change, the new iPad mini increases the screen diagonal to 8.5 inches without increasing the size of the team too much, thanks to more contained frames. Within that diagonal fit 2,316 x 1,512 pixels of resolution. Unfortunately, it is still limited to the old 60 Hz that has been with us for so many years.
The screen promises brightness peaks of 1,200 nits in HDRwith a maximum brightness in SDR of 600 nits. Curiously, only the higher capacity, more expensive variants will be able to have an extra layer of “nano-textured” glass to reduce reflections, as long as we pay 130 euros more. In all cases, it is resistant to water and dust with IP67 certification.
The new iPad Mini is only 5.4 mm thick and weighs 255 grams for the WiFi version. This figure rises to 263 grams if we want 5G connectivity.

It will be accompanied by two 12 MP cameras, one on the back and another on the front integrated into the long frame. Under this screen it also integrates a two-speaker sound system. In addition, it is compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro and the Apple Pencil with USB-C.
The A20 Pro SoC will be trimmed in 128 and 256 GB versions.
The SoC that gives it life is the Apple A20 Pro; Curiously, its performance will depend on the internal storage capacity of the tablet. If we want the 128 GB or 256 GB models, we will have an A20 Pro with a 5-core CPU (2 P-Cores and 3 e-Cores), a 7 core GPU with raytracing and a 16-core NPU.
Only those who pay more for the 512 GB storage version will have the most powerful full A20 Pro, with a 6-core CPU (2 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores) and double NPU.
We will also have Apple’s own new N1 wireless chip with WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6 connectivity, in addition to its own C2 modem for the 5G versions.

For charging and data, it maintains the USB-C 3.1 connector with speeds of up to 10 Gbps, accompanied by an 18.9 Wh battery. The operating system will be iPadOS 27 with Apple Intelligence.
The new iPad mini will arrive for a price that starts from 749 euros in its WiFi version with 128 GB. Let us remember that, incomprehensibly, Apple still does not integrate GPS in these WiFi-only variants. They are followed by the versions of 256 GB and 512 GB with prices of 879 and 1,129 euros, respectively.
The models with 5G connectivity will start at 919 euros for the 128 GB variant, going from 1,049 euros for the intermediate 256 GB model, and will reach 1,299 euros in the 512 GB version (1,429 euros if we also add the nanotextured glass). They can be reserved from October 28 and will arrive in stores on November 6.
