ASUS announces the availability of its 720 and 540 Hz OLED Ace

ASUS has announced the availability of the ROG Swift OLED PG259QWS Ace and ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, its 24.5-inch monitors for competitive gaming with a Tandem WOLED panel. The first reaches a refresh rate of 720 Hz, while the second is at 540 Hz. Both maintain Full HD resolution and an announced response time of 0.02 ms from gray to gray.

The models had been presented previously. The news is now the availability announcementwhich accompanies a more complete description of its connections and functions. The global communication of October 28 does not specify a sales date in Spain nor does it incorporate new prices for our market.

The PG259QWS Ace combines 720 Hz and DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20

The Swift is the faster model of the two. Your panel works at 1,920 × 1,080 pixels and ASUS announces 720 Hz as the native frequency. The company has chosen it as the official monitor of the PGL CS2 Major in Singapore 2026, a competition that will be held with OLED screens.

The DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR20 connection provides link bandwidth of up to 80 Gbps. The listing also lists two 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 FRLs and a headphone output. The combination differentiates the Swift from the Strix, which uses another version of DisplayPort.

The PG259QWS also incorporates a position sensor capable of displaying the inclination, height and distance between the monitor and the user on the screen. The function is aimed at reproducing a specific placement when a player changes tables or participates in a tournament.

Refresh rate and response time describe different parts of the display’s behavior. The first indicates how many times the image can be updated every second; the second corresponds to a pixel transition. Neither figure alone is equivalent to the total latency of the device.

The XG259QWPG Ace keeps the panel and reduces the frequency to 540 Hz

The ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace shares diagonal, resolution and panel technology with the Swift. It also retains the advertised response time and TrueBlack Glossy finish, but reduces the maximum refresh rate.

Its connectivity includes DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC, two 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 FRL ports and a headphone connection. The use of DSC is part of the Strix’s video card and must be distinguished from the UHBR20 link that ASUS reserves for the higher model.

The position sensor is another difference between the two. The XG259QWPG table includes the Neo proximity sensor, adjustment scales and imaging tools, while screen pose measurement appears as a feature exclusive to the PG259QWS.

Two emissive layers, 10-bit color and up to 1,700 nits in HDR

ASUS uses a Tandem WOLED panel with two stacked emissive layers. The manufacturer attributes improvements in brightness, color volume and useful life to this structure compared to a conventional WOLED. These are comparisons announced by the brand, which do not replace measurements of these models under equivalent conditions.

For both monitors, a 99.5% coverage of DCI-P3 space, 10-bit color and a Delta E value less than two. The advertised maximum brightness reaches 1,700 nits in HDR; This is a peak value, not a promise of sustained brightness over the entire surface.

The tab indicates factory calibration and variable refresh rate support. The monitors also include ELMBASUS technology aimed at reducing motion blur, along with functions GameVisual and GamePlus.

The TrueBlack Glossy finish is part of the image proposal of this family. Its performance under room lighting will have to be evaluated in tests, as will the uniformity and accuracy of the factory settings.

Adjustments for competition and warranty that covers burns

Bases and supports incorporate markings to reproduce height, swivel and tilt. The menu Quick OSD It brings together brightness, saturation and shadow enhancement controls, while Hue Optimizer allows you to modify hue and saturation on six axes.

ASUS adds three color modes for esportswith profiles aimed at games like Counter-Strike 2, PUBG and Valorant. These functions allow you to change the image presentation depending on the title and the player’s preferences.

The protection of the panel is carried out by OLED Care Pro with the Neo proximity sensor. The power supply uses a GaNFET design accompanied by a thermal solution, and the announced warranty is three years with OLED burn-in coverage. The global announcement confirms this commercial phase, but the effective availability in Spanish stores remains unspecified in the note.
