CachyOS is positioned as one of the first Linux distributions to include support for Easy Anti Cheat V2
Just a few days ago Easy Anti Cheat advertised an upcoming version for Linux, since it has been compatible with this operating system for a long time. This new version would put Windows and Linux users on equal terms, with a safer game for the platform that works on the open source operating system. This compatibility has arrived with CachyOS, which seems to have been the first to offer the new Easy Anti Cheat V2 for Linux.
CachyOS incorporates Easy Anti Cheat V2 for Linux
This was announced by CachyOS on its GitHub, being the first (or one of the first) to incorporate this new version of the popular anti-cheat software. It is not yet fully implemented, but the maintainers and developers have already specified that the linux-cachyos-eac kernel will be completely optionalso you decide if you want to enable it for your games. The new version is much more restrictive to match that of Windows, and the debate in the community has opened regarding this.
The new kernel for Easy Anti Cheat has limitations on Linux
Users who decide to enable this new function will have to do without other functions that free software usually provides, such as unsigned kernels that give access to compatibility with special hardware and peripherals. Other functions such as hibernation or Kdump.
On the other hand, users who want to implement the new kernel will be able to do so easily, since CachyOS has a graphical system for kernel change. CachyOS will also update its guide to add instructions on how to implement this new kernel step by step along with the secure boot which will give access to Easy Anti Cheat V2.
