Europe follows in the footsteps of the US and recommends excluding Huawei from its networks
It has been several years since USA imposed a veto on Chinese manufacturers (such as HUAWEI) for access to technology. A decision that is here to stay, even after the government changed, and that has been extended to other prohibitions such as the use of Chinese brand communications devices. It seems that this ban will soon be extended to the European Unionsince Europe has recommended excluding brands such as HUAWEI and ZTE of their local telecommunications infrastructure.
The European Union recommends excluding Huawei and ZTE from its networks
A recommendation that comes directly from the European Commissionand although at the moment it is not an explicit prohibition, it seems the previous step for a formal prohibition to all member states of the European Union. This recommendation may not be as strict as that of USAthat not even home users will be able to purchase a Chinese brand router, for the moment it is recommended to exclude these brands as HUAWEI either ZTE but the next step may be its ban in the EU.
Europe reinforces cybersecurity in the face of possible risks in telecommunications
This recommendation comes as a round of measures to increase the cybersecurity in the supply chain and the safety of communications products. Among them is the Revised Cybersecurity Act (CSA 2.0)which wants to identify possible high-risk suppliers and foreign interference in this type of critical sectors such as communications.
But this can trigger a “war” against Chinawhere the government itself accuses the European Union of offering discriminatory measures towards Chinese telecommunications providers. Some measures that can undoubtedly harm trade and relations between China and Europe.
