The Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT reaches 90% Yield in DDR5 and is approaching the big ones like Samsung, SK Hynix or Micron
The memory shortage during these months has meant that secondary manufacturers come to the fore. We have seen how CXMT has been the protagonist in recent weeks with its new DRAM chips that are being added to faster memory modules such as Lexar THOR II RGB DDR5 Gen 2. This is thanks to the fact that the manufacturer has managed to overcome the 90% yield on DDR5obtaining performance similar to that of large memory manufacturers.
CXMT reaches 90% performance with its DDR5 memories
As we see in MyDrivers, CXMT has reached 90% performance with DDR5a percentage in which other greats such as Samsung, SK Hynix or Micron. CXMT uses a 17nm node for the manufacture of DDR5 memory, with figures only 2 or 3% lower than what Samsung has for DDR5, although the latter uses a 10nm node.
CXMT has taken advantage of this high demand for RAM to expand its production capacity, where it wants to end the year with figures that reach Micron’s production, 350,000 wafers per month. A figure that is complemented by this high performance, where production can be used almost completely.
Dell, HP, Acer and ASUS use CXMT memories for their products in the Chinese market
Manufacturers are making use of this memory, although not all. It is said that Dell is prohibited from using DRAM chips from the Chinese manufacturerwhile others like HP only uses this brand for the production of laptops for China. Other companies like Acer or ASUS have also increased production thanks to CXMT memoriesalthough they also mostly direct these sales to the Chinese market.
Furthermore, manufacturers also do not want to lose relationships with customers. big three of memoryadding CXMT as a client, although with the production exhausted by 2027 Many will have no choice but to go to the Chinese memory manufacturer to secure a minimum quantity next year.
