BenQ MOBIUZ EX271QMZ: 240 Hz, 0.03 ms and QD-OLED panel for less than $500

BenQ has expanded its MOBIUZ catalog with the EX271QMZa 27-inch gaming monitor that debuts a third-generation QD-OLED panel. The Taiwanese manufacturer has put it on sale directly in its store in the United States for $499.99a figure that places the EX271QMZ right on the border of $500 where until now there was hardly any room for OLED panels.

The launch comes accompanied by two brothers with an IPS panel: the EX271QMwhich reaches up to 320 Hz, and the EX271QPwhich remains at 260 Hz. Both share the same coverage of 99% of the DCI-P3 space as the QD-OLED model, although with a standard response time of 1 ms compared to 0.03 ms for the OLED panel. The EX271QMZ, on the other hand, relies on the contrast and absolute black of QD-OLED, with a WQHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 240 Hz.

Resolution, contrast and color

The EX271QMZ panel combines the resolution 2,560 x 1,440 pixels with a 0.03 millisecond gray-to-gray response timeas explained by BenQ. Color coverage reaches 99% of DCI-P3 spacewith a typical brightness of 200 nits in SDR and a peak of 400 nits in HDR10 content. The monitor is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium to avoid tearing in games with variable frame rate.

BenQ has also included its Color Shuttle platformwhich gives access to more than 120 color profiles designed for different game genres and visual styles. The company ensures that these profiles are automatically adjusted depending on the title being run, although the user can modify them manually from the monitor’s own menu.

To connect consoles and PC, the EX271QMZ has two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input. The monitor also incorporates two integrated speakers of 2 W each. The stand allows 100 millimeters of height adjustment, as well as tilt and swivel, and supports 100×100 millimeter VESA anchoring for those who prefer an articulated arm.

Pixel burn protection

The EX271QMZ incorporates a graphene layer to disperse the heat generated by the panelan element that BenQ already uses in its 4K EX271UZ model from the same range. Added to this is the call Intelligent OLED Protection Suitea set of functions made up of Pixel Refresh, Pixel Shift, Idle Dimmer and Logo Dimming, aimed at distributing the wear of the pixels and reducing the risk of burn-in in static areas of the interface.

BenQ has added to this package the Brightness Flow function, which analyzes each scene in real time to adjust the brightness of the pixels and maintain a stable luminance. According to the company, This technology seeks to reduce visual fatigue in long sessions without sacrificing the contrast that characterizes the QD-OLED panel.

Price and availability

The EX271QMZ is available from the official BenQ store in the United States for $499.99with three years limited warranty. In Japan, the company has put it on sale for 104,200 yen through its local website. BenQ has not yet confirmed an arrival date or price for the European market.where the $499.99 is not directly transferable due to VAT, tariffs and distributor margins.

The EX271QMZ remains in the third generation of QD-OLED panel, one step below the EX271UZ, the 4K model of the same MOBIUZ family that BenQ already markets with a fourth generation panel. This generation distance coincides with the one that separates their prices: the EX271QMZ starts at $499.99, while the EX271UZ 4K sells from 999 euros in markets such as Germany.
