There will be Googlebooks with first-generation Snapdragon X Elite: 12 cores at 4.0 GHz and support for 64 GB of RAM
Google has presented its new category of laptops, the Googlebook, devices that become the company’s new attempt to gain a foothold in the laptop market and that leaves the concept of Chromebooks a little aside, adding the AI of “Gemini Intelligence” locally along with support for Android applications through Google Play.
While Chromebooks only ran ChromeOS and focused on efficiency, GoogleBooks will be “high-end” (although it seems they will use SoCs from previous generations) and will bring together “the best” of ChromeOS and Android under “Aluminium OS.”
They will be manufactured by ASUS, Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo and will have both versions with X68 processors and models based on ARM. Specifically, there will be models based on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite launched in 2024a processor manufactured on a 4 nanometer node and which, more specifically, will be the X1E-80-100 variant with 12 Oryon cores running at 3.8 GHz with maximums of 4 GHz and 48 MB cache.
It is accompanied by the 3.8 TFLOPS Qualcomm Adreno GPU and the 45 TOPS Hexagon NPU. This processor supports up to 64GB LPDDR5X memory at 8,448 MT/s, in addition to NVMe PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD and UFS 4.0 storage. This SoC supports 4K resolution at 120 Hz, and can drive up to three 4K monitors at 60 Hz. The dual 18-bit Spectra ISP supports a single camera of up to 64 MP or dual 36 MP configurations with 4K HDR recording.
The Snapdragon X Elite is accompanied by the FastConnect 7800 modem with support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 LE.
Qualcomm promises an autonomy that will cover the entire day of use without the need for charging.
