Apple presents the new Apple TV 4K with A19 chip, new Siri Remote and a price of 349 euros

349 euros. It is the price with which Apple opens reservations for the new Apple TV 4K in Spain. That is 180 euros more than the 169 euros that the previous model cost, that is, slightly more than double. The company presented it this October 13 along with the HomeView, the HomePod mini 2 and the Apple Home Collection. As the company confirms, it will arrive in stores on November 13with reservations already open in Spain.

What are the most notable new developments? Despite the brutal price increase, there really isn’t much to tell. Inside it opens A19 chipwith up to 50% faster CPU and up to twice as fast GPU than the previous generation, according to company data. It also includes a dedicated AV1 decoder. Regarding this chip, it includes Secure Exclaves, isolated environments where the microphone data (presumably, that of the controller) is processed without access for tvOS, the apps, the user or Apple.

A new controller that is easier to find

The Siri Remote retains its design, but launches two functions. Now supports Precision Search within Search and can make a sound to locate it. The first feature requires an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or iPhone 17 or later (17e does not count) with the latest version of iOS.

It must be said that, in addition to coming with the new Apple TV, this remote is also sold separately and is compatible with Apple TV HD and 4K, although for now its price is not known.

News for home cinema and reinforcement of home automation

The novelty for home theater is surround sound with four speakers. For the first time, four HomePod mini 2 along with the new Apple TV 4K detect each other’s position in the room and calibrate synchronization and audio levels on their own. Four second-generation HomePods are also worth it, as long as the front and rear pair are the same model.

As a home automation center, Apple TV 4K displays notifications from a compatible doorbell on the screen, allows you to talk to the caller and open the door without interrupting playback. Likewise, it supports automations, guest mode, local processing of HomeKit protected video and Thread. In this way it fits with the Apple Home Collection, which arrives in December, and with the HomeView, which Apple cites as part of the same ecosystem.
