Apple shakes up its calendar: the M5 MacBook Pro is delayed until 2026 along with two other products

According to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to delay the launch of its next generation of MacBook Pro with M5 chip until early 2026. Although experience says that its arrival is scheduled for the end of this year, it seems that the new line will be part of a broader strategy that includes iPhones, iPads and other devices. The company’s idea is to recover more stable growth.

The new ones 14 and 16-inch MacBook Prowith code names J714 and J716, will be the last models that will maintain the current design, released in 2021. The next generation, still without a specific date, will opt for a design change and the adoption of OLED screensa technology that Apple has already used for a long time in the iPhone and iPad Pro.

A delay that affects the entire Mac range

Along with the MacBook Pro, Apple is also preparing the arrival of new Macbook Air and a new external monitor for Mac, the first since the Apple Studio Display launched in 2022. This monitor will also see the light of day in early 2026.

For its part, the M5 chip is expected to come with a performance improvement compared to the current M4, but will maintain the aesthetics and lines that Apple introduced four years ago. The company has been launching its professional laptops at the end of the year (in October or November) since M1, except in the case of the MacBook Pro with M2, which arrived in January 2023.

And what are the reasons? As Gurman points out, the delay is due to the company’s desire to sync your hardware catalog and prepare design and technology news later. Meanwhile, the current models will continue to be the reference in the professional range.

Apple also continues to work on other projects such as a new hub for the smart home, a project that has been talked about on other occasions, and that would come with a panel between 7 and 8 inches. This device, initially planned for March of this year, has been postponed due to its dependence on new Siri functions, which have also suffered delays.
