Apple shows iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max with 2nm A20 Pro chip and smaller Dynamic Island
Apple has presented the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Maxthe two models with which it renews the most advanced part of its catalog this year. The company maintains the 6.3 and 6.9-inch diagonals and concentrates the changes on the screen, performance, cameras and autonomy.
The range is divided into two phases. The Pros arrive now, while the conventional iPhone 18 is reserved for a later renewal.
A smaller Dynamic Island capable of displaying more information
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max debut a smaller Dynamic Island. Apple has redesigned this element using new screen technologies and can now show up to three Live Activities simultaneously, maintaining the Face ID system.
Sizes remain in 6.3 inches for iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9 inches for iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The two models will be available in four finishes: black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy color. Apple accompanies the phones with new silicone and TechWoven cases, FineWoven wallets, and Crossbody and wrist straps.
2nm A20 Pro, C2 modem and new connectivity
The two phones debut the A20 Pro, manufactured using a 2 nanometer processs. It integrates a six-core CPU with neural accelerators, a seven-core GPU up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Its 32 dedicated cores double the AI ​​processing capacity of the previous generation.
The brand has placed the processor and memory next to each other, removing the memory from the thermal path. This arrangement allows the A20 Pro to be directly connected to a new generation vapor chamber, whose surface area is three times larger than that used in the iPhone 17 Pro.
Mobile connectivity moves to the Apple-developed C2 modem, which improves upload speeds and consumes 15% less power than the C1X. He new N1 wireless chip manages WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. C2 modem mmWave support is limited to the United States.
48 Mpx main camera with variable aperture in both models
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max incorporate a new 48 Mpx Fusion main camera cwith variable opening. Its mechanism uses six laser-cut blades to smoothly change the entry of light and adapt the depth of field to each scene.
The user can manually choose between four aperture settings. The new Pro controls in the Camera app also allow you to modify the shutter speed and white balance, as well as view a histogram to check exposure.
In video, Apple allows you to apply Cinematic effects after recording sequences at up to 60 frames per second. Time-lapse mode can record 4K video with Dolby Vision HDR, while Audio Mixing improves vocal reproduction and can isolate music.
The phones also debut Apple Reference Image, a system that generates an unalterable reference image from the data signed by the sensor. In the European Union it will be possible to view these images, but their capture will not be available initially.
More autonomy, fast charging and launch on September 18
Both models feature redesigned batteries and faster wired charging. The eSIM-only versions reach up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro Max. These models with larger batteries are not sold in Spain, so these figures should not be directly attributed to the Spanish versions.
Apple assures that the iPhone 18 Pro can recover up to 50% battery in about 15 minutes via cable or in 30 minutes with wireless charging. On the iPhone 18 Pro Max, five minutes of wired charging provides around seven hours of video playback.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be offered with 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. Reservations begin September 12 and availability is scheduled for September 18. In Spain, the iPhone 18 Pro starts from 1,469 euros and the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts in 1,619 euros.
