From a simple prompt to a game ready to publish: AI unleashes a brutal wave of 70,000 titles on Roblox
The video game industry is changing radically with the arrival of AI. Now, it has been Roblox that has taken stock of the deployment of its tools based on this technology and that are focused on making development more accessible. According to the media PC Gamer As of the third quarter 2026 shareholder letter, the platform has recorded the publication of more than 70,000 video games (yes, the number is brutal) developed through its Build utility in just five months since its release in the alpha phase.
For those who don’t know, Build is a tool designed to generate playable environments from text instructions. Wow, that can turn a prompt in a game without any difficulty. The previous figure is even more striking if we take into account that, for the moment, its access is limited to a few 500,000 users distributed between New Zealand, Singapore, Serbia and Thailand. The company maintains that the sector is facing a turning point, which is significantly reducing the time necessary to translate an initial idea into a project executable on different devices.
The impact of these technologies is not limited to the users in tests. According to the figures provided by the company, more than 80% of the top 100 games by hours of use turned to AI tools to streamline tasks over the last month.
Likewise, the daily volume of resources uploaded to Roblox servers tripled compared to the previous month, while the use of solutions such as Studio Assistant or external integrations using the MCP protocol increased three-fold among the most active creators. In fact, titles like Break and Steal an Egg and Huss Valleydeveloped almost entirely with automated systems, managed to place themselves in the top 20 of the platform by simultaneous players.
Universal Player and the goal of reaching 10% of the global market
To expand this increasingly rapidly growing ecosystem, the company has detailed two complementary technical initiatives. On the one hand, we have Roblox Everywhere, presented in September to facilitate the execution of its content outside the application. On the other side we have Universal Playera system focused on using AI to import external video games directly to the platform’s cloud, providing them with multiplayer gameplay, technical optimization and immediate compatibility between devices.
Something that also caught our attention from the document sent to investors is that Roblox management takes into account that with creation based on AI it is more difficult to attract attention. Therefore, distribution must be supported by networks of contacts between players and creators so that each title reaches its audience.
By the way, the firm maintains the long-term goal of capturing the 10% of the world market of video games, waiting to expand the deployment of Build to new regions in the coming months. When that happens, those 70,000 new titles may be nothing.
