ASUS announces its ROG Strix “Triple Mode” monitors with up to 920 Hz and variable resolutions

In addition to the new OLED models with up to 720 Hz refresh rate for competitive gaming, ASUS has taken advantage of this Gamescom 2026 to present its “Triple Mode” technology in its line of ROG Strix monitors, an evolution of dual-mode monitors that allows you to switch between three different resolution and frequency configurations according to the needs of each user and game.

In this way, in addition to having a mode with a higher frequency and lower resolution, and another with a lower frequency and higher resolution, an intermediate mode is added that offers a greater balance between fluidity and sharpness.

ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCMG: 4K@240, QDH@400 and FHD@488

The first model to debut this function is the ROG Strix XG27UCMGa 27-inch monitor with Fast IPS panel and native 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). In its main mode it works at 4K with 240 Hz, but it can be changed via software to an intermediate mode QHD at 400 Hz with overclockor reach the 488 Hz if the resolution is lowered to Full HD.

The panel offers 95% DCI-P3 color coverage with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. In terms of connectivity, it offers DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.1, two USB 3.1 (3.2 Gen 2) ports and a USB-C port with 15W power output, in addition to integrating KVM to control two computers with the same keyboard and mouse.

For gamers who prioritize panel speed above all else, ASUS has introduced the ROG Strix XG27ACNSalso 27 inches but with a panel Fast IPS QHD and a response time of 0.3 ms GTG. This model runs natively at 1440p and 475 Hz with overclock and allows you to go to Full HD at 620Hz.

In addition, ASUS has confirmed that this triple mode technology will also reach other models in the ROG Strix line, such as the ROG Strix XG27ACMESRwhich will combine QHD modes at 280 Hz, FHD at 365 Hz and HD at 550 Hz, or the ROG Strix XG27ACMSR with FHD modes at 420 Hz and HD at 640 Hz. For now, ASUS has not revealed the prices or launch dates for these monitors in the European market.
