Audio-Technica launches the ATH-M50xSTS-WL, the first wireless headphones in its StreamSet range
The 45mm drivers of the ATH-M50x, Audio-Technica’s studio monitoring headphones, can now be used wirelessly and with a microphone. The brand has launched the ATH-M50xSTS-WL StreamSetthe first wireless headphones in its StreamSet range (we already had TWS models and other ranges), which until now only had models with an XLR and USB connection. They are designed for streamers, content creators and gamers. They go on sale from October 28th 279 euros. In fact, they are now available on the brand’s official website.
The wireless connection operates in the 2.4 GHz band, between 2.404 and 2.476 GHz, through a USB-A transceiver that connects to a PC or a compatible console and requires no configuration. It uses AFH, an adaptive frequency hopping system that changes channels to reduce interference, and has a range of approximately 10 meters with direct vision. The transceiver measures 22 x 40 x 11 mm and weighs about 7.5 g.

Noise-reducing microphone and 24-hour battery life
The microphone, based on the brand’s 20 series technology, is a condenser microphone with a cardioid pattern, that is, it primarily captures the sound that comes from the front. It is mounted on a flexible arm that brings it closer to your mouth and, when raised, silences the microphone.

Its frequency response ranges from 50 to 20,000 Hz, and includes two-level adaptive noise reduction. This function analyzes the signal continuously to prioritize voice over background noise such as PC fans or air conditioning. In addition, it is activated or deactivated from the headset itself. Plus, thanks to the sidetone, you can hear your own voice through the headphones while you talk.
As for sound, the 45mm transducers use magnets and copper-coated aluminum coils, and offer a frequency response of 20 to 22,000 Hz and a sensitivity of 99 dB/mW. Audio operates at 48 kHz, with 24 input bits and 16 output bits. Another key point is that two sets of pads come in the box. On the one hand, we have the standard M50x ones, which insulate more from the outside, and some breathable mesh ones in case the session lasts longer.
An important piece of information is the one that has to do with the battery, which offers up to 24 hours of continuous use and takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge. The headphones can be used while charging with the included 2-meter USB-C to USB-A cable and with that same cable they also work in wired mode. They also come with a USB-A to USB-C adapter.
