LG expands its xboom family with the Buds Plus and Buds Lite tuned with will.i.am
The true wireless headphone market is no longer decided just by the logo on the case. Many brands have equaled the fact that it sounds good, and now the difference is in practicality: how they adjust, how they hear you when you call on the street and whether changing devices is a drama. LG seeks to strengthen its xboom line with two new models, xboom Buds Plus and xboom Buds Litepresented as part of their collaboration of sound tuning with will.i.am.
Buds Plus and Buds Lite to cover two clear needs
The strategy is quite straightforward. The xboom Buds Plus they target whoever they want more features and a more premium profile within the rangewhile the xboom Buds Lite They are positioned as a more affordable option, with the focus on autonomy and simplicity.
In both cases, LG insists that audio tuning is linked to collaboration with the artist, as a hallmark for a range that wants to differentiate itself in a catalog very saturated with alternatives.
One of the technical elements repeated in the family is the use of graphene-coated driversnext to active noise cancellation. Graphene has become popular in headphones because, in theory, it combines rigidity and lightness, two qualities useful for controlling distortion and maintaining bass response without the sound becoming pasty.
Active cancellation, meanwhile, is no longer a luxury feature. The Buds Plus also mentions a three microphone systemwith the intention of improving both ANC and call quality. And here’s the point: for many people, what decides a TWS is not the hype, but whether your voice comes out clean when you walk in wind or traffic.
Adaptive EQ on Buds Plus to compensate for adjustment
The Plus model adds an adaptive equalizer which seeks to adjust the sound in real time according to the fit in the ear. It makes sense because in in-ears the seal changes everything: the perception of bass, the scene and even the effectiveness of the ANC.
Along with this, we talk about customization from the applicationwith equalization and fine-tuning controls. In practice, the difference between a headset that you like and one that you end up leaving in a drawer is usually that: that you can quickly adapt it to your use, without fighting with menus.
Another of the advantages of the Buds Plus is UVnanodescribed as a system to reduce bacteria on parts of the earphone such as the tips and speaker mesh. It’s not a substitute for cleaning, but it connects to a real problem: a device that is used daily and lives close to the skin.
Additionally, a function appears that may be more relevant than it seems: The case can act as a Bluetooth transmitter for sources that do not have itallowing the headphones to be used with non-wireless equipment, for example in in-flight entertainment. It’s one of those functions that seems niche, until it saves you on a trip.

Buds Lite and the battle of battery hours
In the Buds Lite, LG strongly pushes autonomy: There is talk of up to 35 hours with the casea figure that fits his role as an endurance-oriented entry model. For those who use headphones, especially when traveling and working, more hours usually outweigh a long list of extras.
The range is also linked to a app with equalization presets and adjustmentsavailable for iOS and Android, and with mention of support for Windows in the xboom ecosystem. This fits with an increasingly common use: mobile and laptop alternating all day.
In the family it is mentioned Bluetooth 5.4 support and, in some cases, references to functions associated with LE Audio and Auracastdesigned for shared emission or more efficient connectivity scenarios. They are technologies that are still in the adoption phase, but they mark where the sector is going: headphones that do more things and do it with less consumption.
With Buds Plus and Buds Lite, LG seeks to reinforce xboom with a two-speed proposal: a more complete option with Adaptive EQ and extra functions in the case, and a cheaper option where autonomy rules. The challenge, as always, will be in what is not seen on the sheet: real fit, ANC performance and microphone quality on the street. But the positioning is clear: compete not only on price, but on daily experience.
