MINIFORUM launches two 8.47 liter mini gaming PCs with Ryzen 9 8945HX or Core i9-13900HX
MINISFORUM has launched two new mini PCs aimed at compact gaming, the 895D7 and 139D7both built on the same 8.47 liter chassis, but with processors from different manufacturers. The 895D7 uses an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX, while the 139D7 uses an Intel Core i9-13900HX.
Both processors belong to the HX categorychips originally designed for high-performance laptops that MINISFORUM reuses in a compact desktop format, an increasingly common practice among mini PC manufacturers seeking maximum performance per watt in small spaces.
Same number of cores, different distribution between both chips
The Ryzen 9 8945HX offers 16 cores and 32 threads, all of them with Zen 4 architecture, with a boost frequency of up to 5.4 GHz. The Core i9-13900HX, for its part, combines 8 performance cores and 16 efficiency cores to also reach 24 cores and 32 threads in total, with the same clock cap of 5.4 GHz. MINISFORUM configures both chips at a TDP of 100 W when they operate in balanced mode (Balance Mode), an adjustment designed to not trigger consumption or temperature within a chassis of these dimensions.
Memory is managed by two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots with support for up to 96 GBalthough with a nuance between both models: the 895D7 supports up to DDR5-5200, while the 139D7 raises the limit to DDR5-5600, a difference derived from the memory controller of each processor and not from a MINISFORUM design decision. The storage, however, is identical on both devices.– Two M.2 2280 slots connected to PCIe 4.0 x4, capable of hosting up to 8TB combined.
Optional dedicated graphics and PCIe 5.0 x16 slot
The two mini PCs share a 312 x 93 x 292 mm chassis with 400 W internal power supply and a PCIe 5.0 x16 expansion slot, designed to install a dedicated graphics card. In the case of the 895D7, MINISFORUM allows you to choose between a AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT or an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 8GB with a power limit of 145 W, while for the 139D7 the only dedicated graphics option available at the moment is the Radeon RX 9060 XT.
The RX 9060
Prices: the Intel model is somewhat cheaper
With 32 GB of memory and 1 TB of storage, but without dedicated graphics, both barebones cost 1,079 dollars (about 933 euros). By adding the Radeon RX 9060 XT, the 895D7 with Ryzen rises to 1,639 dollars (about 1,417 euros)while the 139D7 with Intel is It remains at 1,599 dollars (about 1,382 euros)$40 below its AMD-based brother, despite sharing the same graphics card. The RTX 5060 option for the 895D7 is not yet available in the brand store, so at the moment only the price of the variant with AMD graphics can be confirmed.
In terms of connectivity, both models include 2.5GbE wired network and Wi-Fi 7two standards already common in the high-end segment of mini PCs and which guarantee plenty of margin for high-speed home connections for years to come.
MINISFORUM is not the only brand that has chosen to put HX laptop processors in compact desktop chassis, an increasingly widespread formula to squeeze the maximum possible performance into small formats. Compared to a traditional desktop PC with a desktop processor, this approach offers more cores for the same budget, although in exchange it limits the overclocking headroom and compatibility with large liquid cooling.
For those looking for a compact device capable of playing demanding games in 1440p without giving up some future expansion capacity, both the 895D7 and the 139D7 are positioned as direct alternatives to mini gaming PCs from companies like ASUS or Zotacwith the particularity of offering two different CPU architectures under the same chassis and at very similar prices to each other.
For now, MINISFORUM has not confirmed availability or price for the European market outside of its international online store, so we will have to wait to see if both models also reach local distributors within the European Union with VAT already included in the final price.
